We have a detailed post up on The Old Motor about the early Cameron and believe this may have been one of the companies first racing cars. Stop by and check out the post we have up on this very interesting car with walking-beam valve gear.

Okay here are a group of Studebaker cop cars. Studebaker called such police specials, "Marshalls."

As most of you know Studebaker started out building wagons, buggies, etc. Here's an early dealership, possibly in South Bend.

This drawing shows the Studebaker factory in 1868. It grew rapidly during the Civil War due to its contract with the Union Army for wagons. Note that the original building seen above (#52721) is in the center of the factory grounds.

These particular Shelby Mustangs were a very limited special order -
GT-350 H ...the "H" was for Hertz (not Hurst!) Hertz Rent-A-Car
ordered a designated amount of these specialty rental units from Shelby Factory-
all were done in this Black with Gold Trim- If you have one of these -
it is worth a nice garage full of cash....

When I was in grad school, I was helping one of the profs wrap up a restoration of his GT-350. Beautiful car with the white paint and blue stripes.

Just as we were finishing the interior, he found out that it was actually a Hertz "rent-a-racer". Yep, complete tear down again and strip the brand new paint off to go back with black with gold stripes.

Lot of work, but totally worth it.

I too rememered them all being black with gold stripes, but just saw a red one that's supposed to be real a Hertz car.

Here is the production and color info for them:

"In all, only 1,001 of these fastbacks were built for Hertz in 1966. The makeup consisted of 999 units of the following colors: A majority in Raven Black with Gold (Bronze Powder) side and Le Mans racing stripes, 50 Candy Apple Red with side stripes, 50 Wimbledon White with side stripes (as well as several models with both side and Le Mans stripes), 50 Sapphire Blue models with side stripes, and 50 Ivy Green with side stripes. Two of the GT350H Mustangs were prototype models. Each of the cars was built in Los Angeles at the Shelby American Los Angeles airport facility."
