The pictures make it look better but she did turn out real nice !! It has a 390 4 speed that was installed in about 1972 I got it to start up but need to clean the tank and change the carb was just running off a can for now . The original 312 and trany came with it for later.
The history behind the car is the 390 was installed so it could raced at the Whitehall drag way in Il. but never quite made it before the strip closed !!
Thank God they never wacked the rear fender wells !!!!!

Great story. I could almost smell that ole Ford when I passed near there twice this summer. You Illinois people are wierd.
My lost car stories. Well, I didn't really lose it. Never found it.
#1 When I was very young, in the dark ages, a guy I worked with gave me a 1925 Buick coupe he had in a rental house garage near me. Said he locked and chained the garage door shut because the renters moved, left the car, and owed back rent. After much time he gave me the old Buick. The driveway and garage sat up on a hill. The co-worker opened the garage so I could get the old Buick. Gone! Somehow in a short time the people came in and pushed it out and took it. I lost a car I never saw!
#2 was a Model T roadster behind a barn. Turns out I did sorta find it. A pile of rusty parts that were left when someone else borrowed that car.

#3 An original 1954 Corvette six with duel carbs. A barn find. Okay I didn't loose it. Chickened out when I saw all the tiny cracks in the surface. $2000 was too much in the 60's. Little did I know it was just the surface jell coat.
Yes, there were even more. But I didn't really ever own them so didn't really loose them. It still hurts! Bought a farm wagon at the same Vette farm sale for a dollar. Never did go back and get it. These and more were in central Illinois.
