We wanted to get out the latest news on the 2012 edition of San Diego Deuce Day, so here it is. Our website is: www.sandiegodeuceday.com, but you can also find everything you need to know here. Details of the event include: Where: Felicita Park, 742 Clarence Lane, Escondido, CA 92029. Please use this address if you're going to set your GPS, or ask Mapquest to route you. If you leave these devices to make the address decisions for you, they could mistakenly route you to a dead end on Oak Lane. For you traditionalists who'd rather fend for yourselves, we recommend that you approach from Via Rancho Parkway. Either from Del Mar/Rancho Santa Fe/the coast or from I-15 take Via Rancho Parkway and turn north at Clarence Lane. There's a signal light and signs for the park there. Just a short distance after the turn, you'll enter the Park on the left. One of us will be there to greet you and direct you to parking (Area 6). When: 8 am till 2 pm, Saturday, September 29th, 2012. "Power Parkers" don't bother to get there at the crack of dawn because the county won't open the gates early. Cost: $20 registration fee gets you admission for you, your Deuce, and passengers. The proceeds will go to benefit the Tom Medley (Stroker McGurk) '40 Ford Coupe Restoration Fund. It also includes a custom-designed dash plaque. Pre-registrations are appreciated, but you can register at the show as well. Food and Drink: Jim and Jan Sheridan will be there with their portable barbeque rig to cook up some of the best tri-tip you've ever had. A $10 donation will get you fed plenty good. If you want beverages to wet your whistle outside of Jim's BBQ, you better bring your cooler. There are no concessions in the park. Event T-Shirts and Vendors: Steve Waldron, of Top End Tees will have custom designed event tshirts available for purchase on site. We'll have a few other vendors there as well, so bring some extra cash (paper or plastic). And, Faith Granger, the Producer and Director of the movie "Deuce of Spades" will be there with the star Deuce and will have DVDs available. Exclusivity: OK, we're being snobbish about it, but this show is limited to '32 Fords only. No Model A's with Deuce grilles, please. That doesn't mean that Model A's and other spectator-driven vehicles can't come in and enjoy the show. They just can't park in with the Deuces. Borrowing from the San Diego Roadster Club's motto: WMBCSBWE. You'll have to ask me what it means, if you're interested. Other Event Incidentals: The park offers: paved parking for the show cars; clean restrooms, shade trees, dog-friendly; hiking trails; close to San Diego city-center; near freeway access; scenic drive to and from the coast. Oh, Yeh - By the Way !!!!!!: The evening before, that's Friday September 28th, downtown Escondido's Grand Avenue will turn into a dragstrip the likes of which you've not seen before. TWENTY FIVE nostalgia top fuel dragsters will be on hand to light 'em up and give you a show you won't soon forget.Be sure to get there early because everyone in southern California will be there to line the street to see this unique show. Coming in From Out of Town?: Need recommendations for lodging or other information? Just PM me and I'll be happy to help you out. Thanks for your interest and your participation. We're looking forward to a spectacular San Diego Deuce Day this year, and we're glad that you could be there. If you have any questions, please PM me. Pass the word to other Deuce owners. A flyer is at: www.sandiegodeuceday.com Thanks again, and see you on Saturday, September 29th at Felicita Park. Chick
The 2012 edition of San Diego Deuce Day was held on September 29th at Felicita Park in Escondido, California. It brought Deuces from all over southern California and as far away as Phoenix and Lake Havasu City, Arizona and visitors from New Zealand and Switzerland. Fifty-seven '32 Fords were the stars of this show. Thanks to all who participated. We hope that you enjoyed your day and we hope to see you again next year. Click on the link below to take you to all of the photos that I took at the event. Looked like a great turnout and an awesome day. Your new roadster looks fantastic! Thanks for the pics Chick!
I'm thinking the tudor sedan with the Moon discs on it was built by Charlie Rambo from Bixby ,Oklahoma. It's a killer deuce.
The 2012 San Diego Deuce Day event donated the proceeds of $150 to the Tom Medley Coupe Restoration Fund. We know that Stroker is pleased with his resurrected coupe, and we all wish him Godspeed.
