I just got my olds 324 back together , got it fired up and timed. I was letting it run for a while to check for leaks and what not. Everything was fine until I backed it into the garage and shut it off I then noticed water leaking from what appears to be the exhaust bolt on the manifold. Nothing around it is wet , the head, the block not even the exhaust gasket. What do u guys think

If I remember correctly some of the exhaust manifold bolts go into the water jacket of the heads.

  4. Thread sealer should be applied to any bolts going into a water jacket

  5. Pretty sure that jeff is correct here. Pull the bolt and I'll bet you get water out, a little indian head or some permatex on the bolt should cure your problem.

I put AC/Delco Cooling Tabs in every overhaul I do, just for stuff like this. The factory uses it (or at least they used too) in cars coming off the ***embly line.

Back in 79 when I got my first Olds which was a 51 I had to remove a exhaust manifold to remove broken studs and I think it drained the coolant when I removed the bolts.

There is a good chance some quality gasket sealer on the bolt will cure the problem.
