If you can find a bigger one that would help a lot otherwise it would have to be made from scratch.

We all suck at it, we just learned how to turn the suck into pictures over time.

just keep messing with it, look up online tutorials, it's worth the effort, but it wont be an overnight thing.

How do you do this ? Hand made scallops or copied from another car ?I use The Gimp, not PhotoShop, but the basic tools are quite the same ( Gimp just don t have the tool to make big boobs as easily as Photoshop :)

Does Gimp have a line tool? When I do stuff like that I use the line tool and make short or long lines accordingly. The pixel width can also be changed.

Yes, you hold down the Shift key after making a starting point then click the mouse when you have your termination point.

  16. I'm thinking that GIMP doesn't have a Pen Tool like PS. But if it does it would be worth spending some time working with the Pen Tool and learning the differences between "Lines", "Shapes" and "Selections" and how they can work together. They can allow for a lot of detail and precise shapes. Bit of a learning curve for sure though. ;)

PS also has the "Quick Mask" tool which can be very handy at times as well. See if GIMP also has a similar function. Sometimes it's easier to paint a mask around an area than to draw a "selection" around it.

I just use layers when I do that, then paste after I've gotten the opacity I want.

The problem I have with the stock grill is just that... it's stock. Everyone has the same grill on theor 59 Ford. I like the idea of being a bit unique.

James D, we should have a picture of this on the car in a couple of weeks. Thanks man!

  21. Can I get some photoshop help? My tires are worn out so it's time to make decisions on new wheel/tire combo for my '64 Mercury.

This car should stay more-or-less 60s period-correct: but let's not get into a philosophical tug of war about when Radir tri-ribs were available, for example. if you think it would look good, let's see it!

    I'd like to see:
    1. Torque thrusts (polished) with blackwall tires
    2. Chrome reverse with shannon cones? experiment with whitewall/blackwall tires
    3. and, breaking my own rule, I'm still intrigued by the www's in photo #2.
    4. I think the height is just right in the 2nd photo. Steve's weight dropped it almost 2".
    5. any other artistic ideas you might have? white scallops or paint accent?.

in the two shots below, #1 has the stock Mercury 14" wheels with skinny radials. #2 has 15" wheels borrowed from Stevie Nash. that's Stevie Nash providing the lowering technology. Thanks Stevie! (if you want to photoshop his ass off my car that's fine with me!)

  27. Proof, if any were needed, that just about anything can look good lowered hard and painted straight black. I added - and slightly lowered - some of the deluxe chrome from a `54 and Cad sombreros.
