Awesome, Plym49. By far the best concert I saw live was The Who, in '69. Not only did Keith Moon break and throw sticks and Pete smashed his guitar, but after their regular concert, they road-tested "Tommy," which wasn't even quite completed yet. The crowd brought the house down. I don't think we got out 'til 1 a.m.!:p

Second on my list was Steppenwolf at their peak.

  7. Never seen that shot of Paul Newman and Clint Eastwood before! That one's a gem! :D

Looks like a Fender Jazzmaster to me.

I wonder if the two of them ever discussed politics?

  11. The engine is probably a model B or C Ford banger. That is the stock position for the dizzy. It looks like two plug wires are coming out the front and two out the rear as would be logical. I don't know why the V8 dizzy would be an improvement over the stock one except for the automatic spark advance. Those distributers were next to impossible to work on. Most mechanics opted for a factory rebuilt.

Thanks for the input. :D This surely puzzled me. So, is the dual-carb intake aftermarket?

Toby, man, I don't know WHERE you find your pix, buddy! :p I have never seen an "errosion-control" pic this old. Anybody know the location and approximate year of the photo?

  17. The dual carb manifold is aftermarket. There was a wide variety of hop-up equipment available for the A as well as the B and C. The C model was especially precious as it had a fully counterweighted crankshaft. The 4 cyl. engine lived on for several years past the intro of the V8, by the way. The B and C also had provision for a conventional fuel pump because the fuel tanks after the Model A were sitting at frame level.

Well (indignantly), at least I got the Fender part right.

    Thanks for the correction, BD!

Hey, Deuce, please correct me if I am wrong, bro. Didn't Ford continue to put some version of the four-banger into its tractors, well into the post-war era?

I'm not embarrassed to say when I don't know.:p Somebody needs to get out front and be the dumb-butt so that everybody who didn't know can learn! :D LOL. That's the fun of the HAMB. People in the know wanna share their knowledge anyway, right? If somebody doesn't ASK, there'll be NO INFO. :(

look at all the long roofs! I count at least 6. It seems that most old photos don't capture that many in one spot.
