That's easy for you to say. I've seen your cars. They look great up close.

To the rest of you guys, I am probably being to fussy. I'll try to do better.
    :D

  2. You just have to go back to your 1980's frame of mind. :D

If I do that, I'll end up in a divorce. Ahhh those were the days!

    Steves32-
I won't. Can I listen to MC Hammer while I'm spraying anyway?

Pictures with color tomorrow. I just finished sealing the bare metal and the front spring, rear end and spindles are ready to paint. I know, I know, it's about time.

I know some of you can relate to this. The painting went really well... except I got to excited and signed my name on the rear end. It is glossy and smooth though. The spindles and springs and backing plates turned out great. I will be scuffing the rear end and will respray it in 2 days. The frame is next. Probably Friday.

WTF? Is that a polished steering box????
I'm hoping to be done with the painting by the end of the weekend.
    Thanks for the encouragement!

    Hey Jeem, what's that primer?

Rick, I wish I had pictures to show, but just about the time of the Hot rod cover I built my first Cal Look bug... Finished in red primer and orange details, (engine, wheels, suspension, etc.) and an alumunum interior and Moon discs. Guess where the color combo came from?

Rick, it's a leaky flaming river chrome vega style box. Came with the deal.

Two steps forward, one step back. I still had paint in the gun and didn't want to waste it yesterday so I grabbed the backing plates and painted them also. They turned out great! Oops, they were supposed to be Academy Grey.:(

Geeez, what's the point in doing this if you're not going to be accurate!
    I think it looks awesome.

While I was sanding the frame this morning, I was thinking about the shirts I need to make to give to all the guys that helped on the project like we did the last time.

I need some input on the new shirts. If I don't start now they will be delayed just like this project has been.

Black, white, nothing on the front picture on back, small logo on front and picture on back, retro 80's with picture front and back????

How about black, small logo front, picture back. Suggestion from down the street.

Aahhh, throw us desert boys a bone and do them in white! A couple of years ago right now an L.A. film company asked a whole bunch of us to show up for the filming of a show about Hot Rods... And required that we all wear black shirts - in the sun on a 108 degree day in september... Didn't work out so well. The hipster film crew didn't make it an hour!

Agree with need louvers. black gets way too hot in the hot, sunny climes.

  27. I like black shirts for the simple fact that if I'm wearing white, I'm 100% guaranteed to get something on it, and I look like a grub.

However, as a fellow Desert Dweller like Chip and Jimmy, I have to agree about the white shirts, especially in the summer.

How about making the shirts in red-oxide primer brown with orange, white, and black artwork? That would be unique.

As far as the artwork, there's some insanely talented artists on the HAMB to help out. As a matter of fact, there are a couple of them who post on this thread regularly that I would highly recommend..............

Are we talking about shirts with the "new" art work?
I vote for white shirts with big art on both front and back, and maybe
use the dates 1982 and 2012....just a thought
