If we sell our unfinished projects the dream is gone. As long as we keep them and let them gather dust and rust the dream remains.
I also found out if we do sell and get money we only spend it and soon have no more than before.

Real question is how many of these project cars got finished while still buying.
If the answer is 0 then is it 'deals to good to pass up' or more catch than release?

After you finish that 54 Chevy pick up you will have enough experience to finish my 48 Chevy panel truck with 350/350 auto. And my all time favorite this week is to own a 1931 Model A again, my first hotrod project long ago.
My favorite changes monthly, sometimes weekly. My other favorite is a 49/51 Mercury with chopped top. But last week my all time favorite was my 39 Ford coupe.
We still have a 23 year old kid living nearby who keeps dollaring us to death. Sometimes he works on a car for me. But usually just messes up the garage and borrows tools. The only rugrats I want living here are 21 to 50 and female looking like Dolly Parton or Linda Vaughn.

Number of my projects is only limited to the size or my shop and yard...

Even when I go fishin I never throw anything back. And who gets good deals ?

  7. The real problem is that most of us are about the same age. We will all start dropping off at the same time, and our kids won't have anyone left to buy all this "stuff" we've collected.
This seems to be a "geezer" hobby. The coming generation won't care anything about our "dune buggies".

Me too. The only project outside is our 22' antique aluminum motorhome. If I had a couple of 100'X100' pole barns they'd been full years ago.:p

True. We have three grown kids in Illinois. An SUV or Kia look alike is their modes of transportation to point B from point A. Only the youngest who came with us after retirement is a car guy. Rarely do we see kids under 45-50 at cruise ins or larger car shows. Those are into muscle cars.
Most younger people have no idea what a pre-60's vehicle is and don't care. And anything older than 1932 is a Model A. Try to buy parts for an old station wagon. You'll get those strange looks and usually "is that some kind of old SUV or mini-van ?"

  10. I look at it like this: No one else will enjoy the time I've had thinking about and working on these as much as I have....just as no one else will truly enjoy many other things I have done as much as I did. Many of those "things", however, weren't tangible and were also not inexpensive. I worked hard for the money to do it all and deserve to not worry about leaving unfinished or unsold projects behind. Any kinfolk that don't get that need to go get their own.

Well I am 35 and cant wait for someone to make the mistake of thinking a 32 is a model A. I have looked at my fare share of 28-31 model Ts but the people still thought they were worth 32s money.lolAnd yes I know 28-31 is model A but its amazing how many people dont. Its just an old car.

Don't forget that us young guys are more than willing to take donations of the stuff you no longer have a need for for to continue on this awesome hobby and lifestyle.
