Seems you've got the HAMB "seal of approval"...I know I LOVE it. Grew up with drag racing '62-70's and loved all the wheel standers back in the day.

I really dig the truck and looks like you have done all your homework.
A friend of mine has an A-100 PU in my back yard and is probably going to do something similar (sprung subframe, hemi) but for the street.
I also dig those front spindle mounts. They are the perfect period wheel.
However, they are also a weak point on the build. I've seen many wheelstanders and not all the runs are picture perfect. Please learn the ropes with some strong front wheels before or instead of hanging those in front. I doubt they will like repeated drops with the weight you have going and the height you are planning on.
Kinda wonder about the drilled axle too. Pretty as heck, but when dropping at least a thousand pounds from 5-6 feet, it will be experiencing some big twisting forces, especially when it's not coming down straight.

Im also subscribed. Love the project. How about some specs on the motor. My Son and I are also building a Blown alcohol all Iron 392.Its gatting real close. Its in the shop at WAR. 1400 HP is a big bite for one of these. I would do backflips if ours made that kind of power and stayed together. PLEASE share some build secrets. FEDER

I friggin love this! However, I gotta say that I'm on board with fear of those magnesium frontrunners slappin down too. Maybe cool show rollers and something else for the passes? All I know is that this thing HAS to do giant wheelstands just to make room for your balls underneath it.

Hello again.I read some consern over my choice of wheels up front. And I will inform you that I have none.I have looked for years to find those mags and will use them as intended RACING.Many wheelstanders have used over the years, Chuck Poole (Chuckwagon) comes to mind see photo he used them for a decade or more. And actually eliminating the heavy steel factory hub and hanging a wheel and tire will be better for the spindle and king pins.
The axle is of no concern either,Maverick and BoB Riggle(Hemi under glass) have always used Dodge axles with the centers cut out with slots holes, or otherwise.Over 4 decades of testing I think I can trust an a100 axle with a few holes in it SEE photo

I really like the look of your truck! Here are some photos of my friends Hotwheels Truck. Done much in the style of the Little Red Wagon but running a 440 instead of a Hemi. The photos show the motor when it ran a older Hiborn ijection system, it nows runs a 8-71 blower. The wheelstand picture is from Milan Dragway at the Pinks all out TV taping. He made the show but just a very quick shot. Mel:D

where in PA are you located? Two of my best friends Dick Belfatti (trick truck) and Fran Monaghan (Gemini cricket) were among the wheelstand legends, both are still around and would most likely love to give you some tips or tricks or just to talk BS! I will put a few pics up from my collection of hand outs that they gave me for some inspiration! some of the stories they tell are almost un-imaginable but true, they were nuts, lots of rivalries back then with who could run the longest wheely.
there are pics of Frans ride with a blown hemi and forward facing wheely truck and with the injected hemi when he spun the truck backwards. the last incarnation of his truck was the blown one and he put the seat/steering & cage in the middle of the truck like you have yours. Dick ran a injected 402 chevy. I found the trick truck for dick back in 2001 but it had been cut up over a brotherly dispute over ownership?

Cool Project I will be watching your progress please keep up dates coming.

    Paul

What timing, I looked at an Econoline just the other day and have been resisting the urge to buy it. I'm a decent fabricator but the trick is in knowing what to do, to get it right the first time. Looks like you're heading in the right direction. Have fun!

I stand corrected then. Bob Riggle lives here in town. I still need to stop by and see him. I'll run it by him when I see him. Carry on!

Kick ass! If it was my build, I wouldn't hesitate to make a few shakedown runs through the neighborhood!
