Looks like the price of gas was 21 cents/gal and a quart of oil was more.

Using the CPI calculator, 21 cents in 1948 has the same buying power as $2.01 today. Wish gas was $2.01 per gallon.

And it looks like the '40s. What is remarkable is that nearly 30 years later the price of gas wasn't much higher. I remember 29.9 cents for regular and 31.9 for hi-test (ethyl) as late as 1972.:)

This is how I actually remember the vast majority of cars looking in 1962, throughout Los Angeles...

I used to commute through that tunnel 5 days a week going from Granada Hills to UCLA. It was great when the freeway finally opened.

    ditto:rolleyes:

I still drive through that tunnel almost daily. It's solidly bumper-to-bumper EVERY morning; which is why we're (Metro) adding an HOV lane to the adjacent I-405 freeway to the east but its pretty amazing that its still there and still functional.

I would think this is a repeat, but it's worth a second glance.

That is a cool photo. Terribly unsafe IF that's a public thoroughfare like it appears to be but cool to see nonetheless.

There is a thread here on the H.A.M.Buger about this video but I never get tried of looking at it but I was just watching it right now and at 3:37 there's a blue and white T-Bird making a turn in front of whomever is filming and it seems to me that there is no one inside the T-Bird:confused:
Maybe one of you guys can watch and see what you see.

You can see the driver against the background of the light colored car behind, as they wait for the light to change.
