Well, we're almost there. Things were going along well until the little minutia started to pile up. The falling daylight and the chill in the wind pretty much had us shut down at 6:30 -- just short of getting thing back together; thanks, CPP. So we'll be back at it tomorrow albeit with a smaller crew, but much less to do. As a side note, my wife and I arrived at 8:35 this morning to find an amazing amount of work already done in the span of 15 to 20 minutes! I want to thank the following for helping out today: Joe Sean Brian Levi (who receives the longest drive award -- Levi came from Atwater over 2 hours away!) Lee Tim Miles Winnie (my loving wife) Ron Ed Bear, the English Chocolate Retriever We'll be back at it tomorrow at around noon. Hopefully, we'll be done soon after that. Thanks again to all who have helped make this dream come true from to beginning to the end. It means so much to me and my wife!
It was a great day. I'd say it went relatively smooth, considering. We'll finish up some stuff tomorrow and it will cruise down the road safely. See you guys at noon!
It was an awesome day! Just a little more to do tomorrow, and it will be right back on the road! Thanks to all who showed, and all those there in spirit! I have said it before, and I will keep saying it: There is no such thing as an online community. If it does not happen in the real-world, it does not exist. Make good happen. You have to create the world you want to live in.
Great job guys, this story just confirms what I belive the H.A.M.B. is all about. Great inspireation . ................... Jack
What a great story. So happy for you that your truck is nearing completion. Incredible effort by HAMB gang.
So great meeting everyone yesterday. I've got the kids this morning so not sure I can make it but ill try. I will be around and local this week. I can help if needed to get everything done by next weekend. Lee
You are an example of what this thing is all about! Hats off to you, if I were closer, I would be in. You guys are heroes!
Hey, Guys, I'm going to be a little late today -- just woke up and I'm having a difficult time. I should be there no later than 1:00. I'm really sorry. Joe
Finished a couple hours ago. I got to take the first ride with Joe, I think he was satisfied. I'm sure some more pictures will pop up. It's a great feeling knowing he will be able to enjoy the truck, and I'm looking forward to seeing him at the show next Saturday. And Joe, if any more help is needed, I'm here brother. See you next weekend!
Thats awesome news Sean.... Wheres the show next week? Ans...more importantly....has the truck got a support decal on it
I don't have any...but I gave him one of my favorite support shirts! hahahaha The show is on Park St. in Alameda next Saturday the 13th. We need to see the last photo, hopefully Joe can post it up.
thats really cool!! just came across this thread... this is why the hamb is the best forum on the interweb.... very inspiring....
It is all together, but the starter is having trouble. It has a BIG dead spot. That will get swapped right out tomorrow. It otherwise runs and stops fine. Thanks again to all who were there, and there in spirit. We really kicked some ass!
man you Nor-Cal dudes wrench....thanks for getting the truck ready for the show.....makes me really wish I grew up in SacTown instead of Big D and those TV clowns....
I was wondering why you guys were still sitting there when I drove by... It was good working with you, glad I could be there.
Park Street Classic Car Show, Saturday October 13, 10am-4pm. On Park St. between Encinal and Buena Vista in Alameda.
Here's how it looked when I got there Saturday: A couple of work in progress shots Joe C's wife Winnie with Miles' pal Bear (Winnine doesn't like dogs, but Bear is hard not to like) I like this pic of Miles on the right helping Brian with brake lines. Here's a link to the rest of my pics on Fotki: http://public.fotki.com/Truckaholic/family-and-friends-cars/the-joe-c-f100/ You guys do great work! Glad I got the opportunity to see this happen. Ron
I would like to try and get everyone together this weekend for this weekend (Saturday) in Alameda at the car show. It would be cool if we could all hang out and have a beer together and get a group photo with Joe and his truck. Levi Props out to you for coming up from Atwater. I am not sure if you can make it but great job on Saturday. It was great meeting you you're a stand up guy. If you ever need a hand let us know and we can share in some good times down your way. Before the starter took a dump, Sean and I took for a quick drive; what a freakin' difference all the work made! It steers and stops so much better now, it's almost like a new truck -- almost. Thanks again guys, see you later today. Joe
