I had a stupid idea once again.
Some tries to Photoshop and the result is quite ..... Well .. Ugly :p
Don t take it bad. every software needs a learning curve :p
There s a lot of didacticiel on youtube, but nobody takes times to listen to them.
So I think it would be nice to make a sticky for the newbies, learning them how to play with Photoshop or Gimp.
Instea of the bad things we often see with Paint :p
    I use Gimp, I m a Linux / FreeBSD guy.
I really think the goal of a forum is to share information, but since we all have computers, it would be a nice idea.
    The Gimp is free.
I m far from being as competent as some here .
But with a few hours of learning, i ve been able to make nice things. Sort of. Well I think :
So I really think a step by step >( I love Joe Jackson ) would be usefull.
    I can deal with Gimp.

    I love Gimp, it's what I use.

It amuses and confuses me when someone who can afford one of those crazy photoshop programs will put me down for using Gimp, then praise me for getting better results then they get...

Ha! I use GIMP, too. 'Coz, you know, FREE!

damagedduck, GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It's a free program that does a lot of what Photoshop does. From what I've heard, Photoshop is more powerful and easier in some functions, but I've never used anything but GIMP, so I don't really know which is better. But GIMP is free and you can get it here.

There are help files for it and tutorials on Youtube and stuff. I never used any of that, because I'm out in the sticks and don't have the bandwidth to get the help files or videos. I just learned to use it by pushing buttons and seeing what happened.

Can somebody help? I'm wanting to do my 58 something like the Victorian by the Alexander brothers...or any mid 50s to early 60s influence. No chop, but definitely something front and rear...change up side trim also. Any ideas???

I call this the Stiletto Shoebox.
1949 Ford sectioned, chopped and hardtopped. It's lengthened in front of the doors and the rear quarters and trunk are shortened.

I actually have a plastic model of the Victorian :p (had two, but one got rebuilt too many times...)
How would you like a 57 Chrysler grille, 59 chevy side trim and 62 olds taillights?
And rear grilles made from 59 chevy 'eyebrows' ?
Not sure how this would work proportionally in real life though, digital art has no boundaries :p

That's Awesome!!! Now I'm getting motivated. Never thought of the 59 chev parts for rear roll pan. I did consider 62(?) Chevy truck hood front, but I like the 59 much better!

Here's a two-door 63 Studebaker Wagonaire that I made with MS Paint. How about a black ranch woody with mags?

To be honest, I think using the truck parts will be a lot easier in real life ;) All you need is a hood with grilles (61 btw) . If you would decide to use the 59 Impala pieces you would need to either fabricate most of it, or cut up a hood, two fenders and the middle part of the front end, and weld together all the trim pieces :p

Oh, btw, the hubcaps are 58 Edsels, which could look even better with bullet centers ;)

    Click on the first link.
I first saw photos of this car when it was just completed and I had the same reaction. But it really grew on me, because it was so different and predicted a much later styling trend.
    Give it time!

Can someone clean up my newly acquired 1948 Diamond T 509sc ? I'm trying to figure out a paint scheme for it. Whites and blues, black and oranges, or black and reds, etc.
