65 riviera carrier bearing, a vibration, and a squeal...

  1. Some of it is natural and others of it is learned. There are times that I wish I was one of those guys that had a knack for computers, all my computer skill is learned. ;)

  2. 90 MPH is a good way to test out vibrations !! Your just lucky the Fan did not Exit Through The HOOD !!! Glad you got it fixed >>>>.

So Ryan, what are your thoughts about purchasing a car sight unseen?

seems like you have some good luck also as the fan didn't destroy a expensive fan and yet put a slice through the hood. had one launch through a new radiator in a 56 cameo pickup doing a foolish 6k burnout from a defective rebuilt water pump combined with "I thought you tightened those bolts"! after it bored through radiator it exploded and sent pieces through the hood. Yeah i would say you were lucky.

Been there, done that. The water pump bearing wears out real quick when the fan clutch goes bad like that and it'll even break off water pump snouts before it sends the fan through the radiator. Heck, if you're real lucky like me, you'll even get to run over the carnage and get a chunk stuck in a rear tire.

Yes Ryan, you had Lady Luck in the car, I did not, taking my 65 Rivi to Daytona for the Turkey Run 2yrs ago I got a wicked vibration, brand new tires so I was not worried about that I just figured I threw a wheel weight or something, about half way there it happened, boom, fan came off and went right into my freshly built radiator and then the waterworks, $200 tow bill later and I had to drive our mini-van to the show.....You got lucky!...Brian

This happened to me driving down a street in Portland Oregon one afternoon. 64 'vette coupe with a wind-up smallblock. When it broke, it took out the radiator and shroud...luckily not the hood.
