The ower shouldn't be blamed at all. While he was a friend or not I would think that. It's like blaming the girl that gets raped which in this case the person did get screwed.

  3. Man, he got absolutely robbed.

At about 1:00 in on the video you can see some of the welds, they look bad on a shakey camera from a decent distance, they can't look much better in real life.
He showed a few nice welds later in the vid, but, they appeared to be on the kit, and not the installation.

Not the cheapest shop by far. He's out a lot of money my guess would be $5K. There are some pretty expensive cars at that shop right now.

  6. Sorry for your friend man, but, if he can't do a better job protecting his pocket book... he's going to have a hard time in life.

Well, I would blame the girl for going to the cheap part of town alone, in a mini skirt, bright eyes and bushy tailed

  8. It would also be hard not to blame her for going back to the same 2 more times.

I'd tell your friend to get a lawyer and a new shop. That crap doesn't even look like they tried.

I think there is some confusion here... I pretty confident that this is not Blake's truck.

If I remember correctly, there are photos and video in Blake's thread of the the work after it got fixed, and the work looks good.

The work here is possibly worse than Blake's first photos.

But I believe that you should name the shop to ensure no one else gets stung.

I've seen some clip jobs that were so bad that it wouldn't be safe for a cop to put his foot on the front bumper while writing a ticket.

I took my first job to a friend who has built rail dragsters from scratch for approval. No matter how good it looks, I like to get the experts advice........

Hack jobs like this are the reason we should ask to see work in progress as well as finished jobs and check customer references before turning our vehicles and hard-earned cash over to fabricators and other automotive shops.

To see an extreme example that could have been avoided, see Elpolacko's HAMB thread "OT: Ratrod Reckoning".

I've had a few cars end up at my shop to redo stuff. I'll ask the owner who did the work so I know. Sometimes the owner of the shop might be a skilled fabricator but if he has the beginner kid learning on your ride and he's not watching the outcome that's still flack he should get for letting an inferior product out the door.

  18. Sure looks like the same vehicle as the post everyone was talking about. Specifically the pictures in post #426.

That combined with the fact that you are friends with the author of that post leads me to believe it's the same vehicle.

You really need to clear up whether these photos are recent, or photos from the first time that truck got butchered. You're being a little vague.

If that's the case, he got took, and took hard. I again make my previous statement: he needs to figure out how to protect his wallet, or life isn't going to be easy. He should take this as a very expensive lesson. That work is junk. I wouldn't let a wheelbarrow leave my shop in that shape, and I rarely charge for my work. In the wrap-up video he posted, he sounded happy as a clam. That's unfortunate, he really shouldn't be. Especially considering he has been through this MANY times now. I'm really shocked that he didn't look it over before accepting it, or that he thought that was "OK". Looks like it was a decent kit, and the installer pretty well ruined it for him. I'd really like to see "severedjosh" stand up for that work.

  19. I've seen bird shit welds......
    I've seen pigeon poop welds.....
I've seen "humped up like a dog shitting peach pits" welds.....

But those look like goat diarrhea

ZERO skills at welding or high on crack or bath salts.....my guess.

That's some ugly crap and that guy had the nerve to talk shit back to you at least give a city L.A. is huge.

  23. So, shop does a shit job. Buyer gets them to redo it. They do. Buyer takes vehicle to friend (you) and you look it over, take pics, even go down and confront shop owner. Right?

Why in the hell didn't the buyer take you or ANYONE WHO KNOWS WHAT A WELD LOOKS LIKE to the shop the second time before signing off/taking the truck back? Seems that would have saved a ton of effort and crying online

If a shop screwed me enough by doing shit work that I made them redo it, and I didn't understand the difference from chicken shit and chicken soup, I damn sure would have had someone that does know the difference look at it.

WE AS HAMB MEMBERS NEED TO STOP ATTACKING EACH OTHER AND STICK TOGETHER! WE ARE ALLIES NOT Enemies. ENOUGH WITH THE ATTACKS AND SHIT TALKING TO EACH OTHER ALREADY!WE are surpose to be a group of like minded people about traditional hot rods and Kustoms.
OKay with that said. I haven't known the person long. We live close and he asked me if he could come by to show me his ride. He had a few questions saw my build and came by. So when I saw it I explained good and bad. More bad than good. I measured things and looked at other things. Bottom line is it's really fucked up.I thought it was a death trap looking at it. Wanted to get other people's thoughts. I rode in it and I white knuckled it the whole time. let's say the wrong spindles or wrong ball joints are on it and with weight on the wheels still has 1/2 inch of side to side movement from not fitting. The list goes on and on. I wasn't going with him to show anyone up or say I was better than them I just wanted to point out what the person couldn't because he didn't know better. If you look from above in the engine bay the work doesn't look that bad till you really start looking hard at it. But you can see the frame is tweaked. When he told me the vehicle pulled to one side I could tell him which way because the frame was bent to the right to it steered that way. To be honest my wife told me to stay out of it. The only reason I even got envolved is because the HAMB could be a huge family that looks out for one another. It could be like when I was in the Marines. Didn't matter if it was your worst rival when it came to Marines vs anyone else we stuck together. A HAMB BROTHERHOOD per say. Instead of the bullshit blame game pick on the less knowing.

Was that gray merc still at their shop?

  26. Dispite the lame "e screaming", if he didnt know the difference, he should have taken along a friend that did or even hired a mechanic/welder to go look. As for "hamb brotherhood" you wont even name the shop to "protect your brothers".

Is the truck posted in this thread Blake's?

I found this new vid along with his older ones and it looks a lot like it.

Not to sound like a jerk, but what is the point of this thread? Is it that you helped him out? If so, that is cool, otherwise I am somewhat confused.

Look, I am NOT a welder. I have a welder at home and use it for home repairs, patch panels, and non structural pieces. I did not go to school to weld, and do not get paid to weld.

With that said, I will be having others do any clip work or structural work. It is frustrating because this was a shop that wants my money and would tell me what they need to get my money. I could be in the same shoes. I use this forum, along with many others to find reputable companies. When someone gets screwed, there are posts about searching here to find out about shops. With no information about the shitty shop, how are we supposed to learn about it? This is not an issue about bodies or an engine, but chassis, where if one of those welds let go, it can be disaster.

Sorry about the rant, but can you see out frustration too?

I looked at his stuff to protect a brother. I went to the shop to protect a brother. I almost got in a fight fucked up hand and all to protect a brother. If you lived in my area and you pm'd me asking if it was the shop you were using I would let you know. I wanted to see if my gut about his ride being a death trap was correct to give him piece of mind. All the bullshit attacks have made a lot of build threads die because people comment on them that should shut up and go work on their cars. I got warned a few years ago for saying just that. This thread wasn't about me outing him. If he feels he should say what shop then he will do it. If he feels he wants people to know who he is then it's up to him. I already had someone email my personal account about posting pictures I didn't even know about that email address being on as it hadn't been used in so long. It forwards to my email address from an old one and was shocked as it's been 5 years since anyone emailed me from it other than junk. I guess I have to remove things to not cause trouble for the person.

NONstop PM me if you are using a shop I'll tell you if it's the shop you are using. The point of the thread wasn't and isn't about me. I just wanted to check with other people to see if what I saw was right. I know the work I do and can be anal. I knew what my gut said and I didn't want this kid to get hurt. I wanted experts to chime in not internet people that have never built anything to say things that do not have anythign to do with the problem at hand.
