RaceRon, you are very right. Ricou was a pioneer in learning how to work with dolphins and has helped many others understand how to handle and work with them humanely. Seems he really bonded with these exceptionally intelligent mammals, as he still says "Flipper" was the favorite high point of his professional life. His daughter, incidentally, is chronicaling her dad's many achievements. And his son, Ricou, Jr., is a P.A.D.I. Dive Master and point man for Ricou Browning Productions, which helps movie-makers stage elaborate action sequences for big-screen movies -- with an eye to safety for people, sealife and the ocean environment. Talk about a family affair!



Few today would realize that "The Creature From the Black Lagoon"
was released during the height of the original 3-D craze. Here's a
promotional shot.



Looks like a pre-shoot sketch to me (sort of like a story board
only more detailed). Julia and Ricou replicated this scequence
quite well for the screen, IMO!

Well, I read yesterday that, at the height of "Sea Hunt!" popularity, Lloyd B. did a P.R. op with a group of Navy Seals. They were ALL curious to know how, on screen, he threw his double-tanks over his back so easily. Reportedly, he laughed out loud and explained: "Because MY tanks are made of balsawood!"

Hell, at least he was honest and didn't bullshit real divers!

From the wheels and tires I'd say you're about 1 decade early. This would have been pretty typical here around 1969. Still lots of '55-'57 cars and they were cheap.

 

If it wasnt mentioned, I believe thats Bill Coon in his younger days. That Bird was one bad cammer!

He built a couple of race motors for me in the past and had been talking about either finding this car or building one like it.

I think hes involved in some new cammer heads on the market today.

 

I fail to see the point in picking at a 78 year-old woman because she doesn't look like she did at 30! If any of you want a real scare, when you are 78 take a look in the mirror.

 

Jeez! I will be dead long before I get near 78 and trust me, looking in the mirror takes a while to work up the courage and it scares the hell out of me now!!
