I am going to need a body for my roadster build .
Love Wescotts stuff but the dollars? -- --OUCH!!
Has anyone had any experience with this company ?

    http://www.classglassperformance.com/index.html

They put out a 26-27 T roadster body with all the whistles and bells --opening doors , trunk, firewall, floor --pretty much all I am looking for and it is 2800 dollars not 9000 plus.

  2. I bet you could find a steel body for less.

That would be nice -- however I have been looking for a steel body for better than 20 years , closest I ever came was one here on the HAMB a few years back for about 1200 , it was as nice as any I have ever seen , missed it by about 5 minutes!! Begging , offering a premium, and immediate payment would not budge the seller from his promise to give the buyer a few days to raise the bucks.

    Thats amazing.
In with my many ol cars I have two 26/7 roadster bodies with trunks and a roadster pickup complete that I paid $450 for. The trunk bodies were so cheap I dont remember what they cost. You should look in Texas and Oklahoma. If I can find my camera I will picture the bodies The roadster pickup is my avatar. It was in OdessaTexas

Well...you can't fault the guy for keeping his word...even if it worked against you! :D

Don't worry about it being fiberglass or steel. Steel IS definately great but you'll have a ball in a glass body too.
Sure beats sitting at home and dreaming about the fun you could be having! ;)
After waiting 20 years I wouldn't be a bit worried about it.

Something to consider, the complete body package is set up with the floor raised for a channeled body, that will take away a lot of interior (leg) room in a "T".

Actually , I wasn't faulting , I thought that everyone would get the message that HAMB people are good to their word, sorry that did not come through.

I'm not , and one neat thing about it is that my youngest son (36) is as happy and wanting to build it as I am . Just a few days ago he was telling me that he figured on about 12 grand for a body!! Must be he was looking at Wescott!

OOPS !! Never noticed that ! I would hope I could get one not set up for channeling , I don't want a channeld car . Plan to put it "hiboy" style on an A frame.
    I know --I know a "hiboy" is a fenderless Deuce . :)

I don't know anything about that body but being in the PNW I've been around several Wescott bodied cars that have been around for up to 35 years and are still in great shape body wise. That full steel structure that they build into the body does a lot for strength and for keeping the body sound.

So buy the bare shell and spend a couple hours putting in a nice floor. Glass is easy to work.

No question , Wescott IS the best made , but being 71 now , I probably don't need a car that lasts much over 30 years.;)

I don't know anything about the company you asked about, but I do know about fiberglass bodies in general. That one looks pretty good in the pictures and I notice no glaring flaws like parting lines or waviness. I would buy one, based on what I see.

My 27 has about a 25 or more year old Speedway body and I have been very happy with it. Yes, some people say you have to have steel (not me:D) but I think for a lot of people a glass body makes a lot of sense. First of all, not everyone is a bodyman with skills or equipment to cherry out a steel body. But the average home builder can gain fiberglassing skills very cheaply and quickly and actually get a car on the road. Half of the cars now being used would not have ever seen completion if it were not for the fiberglass body builders.

Mine is channeled over a model a frame, so I went with a bare shell and added all the internal wooding and glassing. I also cut the stock firewall off and made a new flat and tunnelled one to give me some room for the motor. That is what I would suggest you do too. I hope you find some people who have used that brand, but even if you don't I think I would still not be afraid to use it.

    Don

Darn sharp looking roadster. Can't tell what engine you are running , only that it's not a flattie. Did you cut the deck lid and or doors to open. Unchanneled as I want , I will need opening doors at least.

I have both sitting in the driveway, and get people asking about both every day. The ONLY guys that say***** in person, about a car being glass, are the guys that drive import family cars.

Pretty sure that holds true online as well. Sure, Id RATHER build steel ones, but sometimes glass is what it is.

As some one who has built 8 or 10 glass cars I notice a real lack of reinforcing on the body, the door jambs get a lot of back and froth presure getting in and out of the car and when you try and wedge the kids in between you and your honey....................

Thanks. Engine is a 331 stroker sbf. No, I left the decklid solid as well as the doors. It is low enough I can lift a leg and get over the top pretty easily. I have ridden in some glass cars where the guy cut in doors, and riding shotgun my arm kept getting pinched by the door gap as the body flexed. I realize that can be cured with good bracing, but I just never saw the need for any doors in my cars. I also use the no door thing to judge my lady friends. If they happily climb over the side they are a keeper. :D

I have also seen glass cars with chafing around the door jams because the door would scrape as it was being closed. But again, those issues could be fixed with good bracing.

I think that might be the new name of the old A-1 body company. If so the company has been doing busuness in various names since the 60's. I remember my pop getting race car bodies there in the old days. I may be wrong, just a thought.

Class Glass Performance is not the old Anderson Industries(AI). AI became Rod 'N' Race. Rich Venza sold it to some guy in WV and he went out of business. The molds are now owned by Scott's Rods in Ohio.

Found em !! Both roadster pickups, one in Calif, the other missing doors and pretty rough. Thanks for the tip , will consider the one in Vegas as I have to go there soon to trailer my 64 Merc Maruader from there to here , Fraser Colorado.

Not to hijack the thread, but I recently traded my rpu A for a ,I think speedway t, and so far enjoying it. No doors, or trunk, but enough for an old guy. The body you are looking at looks good. I will call them tomorrow about a dash. I don't like my alum dash.

Hey, some of the ladies in those retirement homes are pretty hot ! :D

48fordnut, I agree about the dash. Having a glass one in there makes it so much easier.
