Sure wouldn't mind knowing the story behind this? Doesn't appear to have a body under the canvas, has bobbed fenders, no lights.

  6. Not sure but the pic was likely in the LOC archives; where many of the pics I post are from. I didn't keep details, if there were any - sometimes there aren't any comments with those vintage shots on LOC

  9. Interesting........Look at the frame........quite tall. Could be lumber. Maybe the only auto parts are the mechanicals, ie. the power train and axles.

  10. I work next to some tracks and look when a train goes by wanting to see one of these but all probably have been scrapped by now.

I still have the 1/16 scale Lindberg Ford T (upper right) unassembled, very crude kit!

Of course this was not actually Gloria Swanson's car. It was the character Norma Desmond's car in "Sunset Blvd".
Here is a bit of imdb trivia:

"Despite the fact that Erich von Stroheim plays a butler/chauffeur, he could not drive in real life. During the scenes in which he drove, the car was towed by another car. In the scene in which he drives Norma Desmond to Paramount Pictures, he crashed into the famous Paramount gate."

  21. Those that aren't scrapped are in museums.
