Sorry I can't post pictures from my phone. This was originally a white car with red interior which is awesome , but I don't know. I like all the 65 GM colors, gold or that mist green. Like if you imagine back in the day what would you have started with. A 6 cylinder car off the lot? Not everyone was Malcolm Durham. So if you built this car in like a couple of weeks, basically all you have to do is shoot the quarters and you're out racing. Or do you go after it. Total period metal flake whatever, hours of google searches. I'm leaning heavily in the direction of factory colors but I can't bear to paint it white. Although Malcolm's 64 was white. What color do ya think

Seems if I remember correctly, and that's doubtful, a lot of Malcolm Durham's Strip Blazers were dark blue.

His 65s were blue but his cars were many colors during his racing career. He was not a high buck racer. Not many corporate sponsors in those days.

Man, if I were doing up a '65 AWB Chevelle, there's no doubt I'd have lean 'twards my all-time favorite AWB bowtie. Can you say "Seattle Shaker"? :D

Forest Green (GM color) and some gold panel or scallop work. The gold could be a mid size to small flake, border the panels or scallops in a brilliant green pinstripe, maybe not too bright but enough to pop. Maybe a nice "Kelly" green for the stripe.

  9. Metalic Blue if you like it to sparkle, they had a real nice metalic blue in the mid '60s. Or Yellow chevelles came on a yellow that was named after some flower as I recall.

Black or dark blue is always my first choice, but if you want somthing different these 2 would be cool. The first is Iris Mist Purple and the 2nd is Mayflower Maze yellow on Pontiacs.

  13. Or dark gold with blue leaf lettering. :D

    Sorry I just couldn't resist.

What ever you do do not two tone it unless it is a panel paint job.

1965 Chevrolet Evening Orchid. A *****in' one year only factory color. Sure, there will be some naysayers that might give you **** by asking why you painted your car pink, but just remind them that there's other pink things in life that nobody seems to be complaining about.

White with Blue panel sides, white letters on the blue with blue letters on the white. Trim the large panel letters with Silver leaf.

  19. Sorry I was thinking more of a Goodguys style two tone. ;)

I have actually been giving this whole thing some thought and I have decided that if it gets any color it should be colored fast.

The white with red interior doesnt sound bad, It may sound crazy but when we raced circle track a guy had a car that was white with red interior, it had a plumb crazy purple hood and deck lid on it, the lettering was gold w/ red trim, It looked good.

  21. From what I remember if roundy round, if it looked good he wasn't racing. :D

Dark blue is pretty bad ***. Some tv dude already painted his car orange and white. Now that green like Alan Green Chevrolet is cool also. If the election were to be held today however, it would be strip blazer blue, thanks guys. It occurs to me how few people I would ask this question.

That'd be this one. A well done tribute to the era, with a' tip-o-the-hat' to one of the most famous crowd pleasers. :D

  28. There were 18 factory colors, and only 5 solid colors. Black, white, red,
beige and yellow, all the rest were metallic colors and might not have
offered on the base 6 cylinder car. The 300 series post car(sedan)
was the base model, no side trim and probably a 6 cylinder w/ 3 speed.
These are the only 2 color pictures I have of the Tiger II. The one
in gold was earlier when it still had the SBC. The second one is after
it was converted to BBC power, magnesium spindle mounts and the rear
wheels were moved up almost to the door, and renamed Blitzer.
I was hoping to get started on it this fall, but the Henry J G***er is
still 6 months away from being done.

    Thanks, John
