That '57 Nomad (Post #5055) is or was on Craigslist earlier this month.

Actually still is under the north Jersey parts section... $1500.

Well if the owner said take it and this other guy is just saying it's his and won't do anything about it, I say take the damn thing.

I think he saved himself a helluva headache by asking first then leaving it alone for the time being ...

  5. Does anyone have "paper" on it? If so they'd be the one to work with. If not, the old "possession is 9/10s of the law" might prevail.

The "owner" is 80 plus and barely remembers the car. He's a very wealthy oil and gas guy that is very nice and known my family since the 50's. I hate bothering him but I did call to see if there's any paper and there's not so that's a dead end. I'm not going to bother him again about it. Did call the landowner back and he said he'd let me know in a few days but I'm not holding my breath. And yes possession is 9/10ths does apply and I'm not getting my ass shot off for a car.

Nice. Looks like maybe a 61. I just sold a rust bucket but would love one thats a bit more solid. That doesn't look too bad.

hey ray, none of the ones i posted are for sale unfortunately. the continental was bought in washington dc in the early 60's so there is no telling what kinda of history it has. And the 57 chevy hardtop gasser has some kind of local race history but I havent gotten around the guy lately to really ask

Yea bob your probably right about that but it's a shitty thing to be told by one " hey it's yours" and the other " no" but better safe than sorry for sure.

the continental is a more than likely NO, his supposidly his nephews car and he wont sell it. so maybe one day it could be for sale, but the guy will not even attempt to get ahold of his 'nephew'. the 57 gasser and the 57 nomad probably have the best chance of getting restored, so I think its only a matter of time with them. And the 55 you were asking about I was told had been taken to a shop in the last week to get restored. so maybe a few might get fixed

Here are a couple from Sullivan, Indiana. The 58 Edsel 4 door was a 3 speed stick on the column with overdrive car that my Father and I pulled out of a field in Westfield, IN years ago. We got the transmission out of it and continue to utilize them for those hard to find parts still.

Well at least the 55 moved I love 55s and am glad to hear it won't be rotting. I hate the bs "it's my kids or nephews or blah blah blah" that's such a lame excuse I'd rather hear I don't want to sell it.

There is a 64? dart convert, 62? bonneville vert, 66 bonneville vert, 3 or 4 other mid 60's pont convertibles, there are a couple mopar convertibles, one is like a 66 or so 4-speed car, like a fury or something like that, I really didnt pay much attention to them, sorry. I can find out more about them if you think you would be interested. Jim

This thread does kick ass! One of 2 that I am subscribed to. I wish there was more cool stuff here in southern Arizona to shoot pics of but with as turbulent as the border is I don't venture out much any more.

I can relate to that! still looking for a cheap 50 olds 2dr like dad had to do up with him before he pases.

  25. I'd just like to find a '59 Chevrolet dash without having to spend out the ear! The last complete dash I pulled (recently) was $35 at the salvage yard, and now everyone wants $200+ for their "rare find"...

Sorry for the rant- this IS a great thread!

This thread is depressing ! But I love it. It's amazing how many decent cars are still out there just going to waste. I know. I've seen them too. Sadly I never used to carry a camera along.
Keep posting and telling about them. Perhaps a few will be rescued yet.

I stop almost every time I go by this place. I wish that I knew who owned the property.

My car had matching luggage and all, was dark blue, had wire wheels, air ride suspension, what a car, needed restored but was a decent driver the way it was, it went to canada, still miss that car.....Jim
