I don't ever put my name or location when showing my car. It's just to easy these days for people to look up where you live on the internet and just swoop in. Good luck, I'm sure it will turn up.

It's hard to explain to the non car crowd what my car is and how it came about. I just met with an investigator that was asking about id numbers on the parts. They just don't understand but I am very happy to have their help. He told me he felt confident he would find the car. I sure hope so!

Well thanks for sharing your build, I enjoyed every post.
NOW it's our turn to share with you. The HAMB is a big community, it'll be really hard to do anything with that car without someone nailing the bastards. You have our support and there's some guys on here that would gladly provide retrieval services for you. I'm on the opposite end of the country but I'll still keep a lookout. I have an anchor with a short chain that I'll donate to the cause if we catch em. Best to you.

I think the article was pretty good. Much better than any of my local media would've done.

I followed the build and this really sucks. I hope things work out.

  14. Here's how crazy the prices are, although this is a pretty cool untouched car. This was at Hershey recently with a price of $100K.

HT - I saw a friend of yours mention it, with a picture, over on YellowBullet. There has been a rash of stolen vehicles in October like no other.

Got to be someone you know ...

Dave, I think you nailed it when you said this in the interview:
    ______________________________________________________________________________
I could see where the metal on the side of the shop had been pried out," he said. "They knew it was there, they knew I wasn't here, and they knew how to get into the shop."
    ______________________________________________________________________________

I don't think someone just got lucky, they knew what was in there, they knew you were not going to be around, and they came prepared to unfasten that panel to gain access. Start looking at your circle of friends and their friends. Not saying your buddies did it, but just someone who was familiar with you and your planned vacation.

I mentioned earlier that my Sons car was broken into years ago and some high end stereo equipment was stolen. When I tracked down the guys who did it there was a very strong link to a kid who was supposed to be a friend of my two Sons. When I mentioned it to him he got very nervous and has not been around since that day. You hate to think things like this, but this is the real world, unfortunately.

    Dave,

I got to say This really pains me, as it does everyone else here on the H.A.M.B. to hear that your beautiful '32 was stolen. I have followed your build since day one and applauded your ingenuity and talent at making this coupe what it is.

It is truly terrifying to me the alarming number of "Hot Rod Stolen..." or "Stolen Custom..." threads I have seen appear on the H.A.M.B. in just the last year or two. It doesn't seem to matter: High-end GNRS winning customs stolen still in their transports...truck and all... or good, honest "blue collar" hot rods stolen from driveways, garages or hotel parking lots while on road trips. All are targets it seems.

It seems it is becoming an epidemic almost.

As much as I don't like to cast the "suspicion blanket" over family or friends....I must agree with Don, this smells like an "inside job" to me.

Regardless of who did it and why..I sincerely hope that your family's '32 is found and Shelby gets her coupe back home where it belongs.

Eyes peeled up in the NW.

  25. I just finished reading through this thread and like others, I got sick to my stomach when I read about the theft. I'll be adding my wishes to all the followers here that hope for a good ending for finding your coupe and my hope for the worst kind of karma to the scum that perpetrated this deed.

All it takes on a metal building is a cordless screwdriver to unscrew the sheetmetal walls and you're in

True, but they knew what they would need, bit and all. They were prepared. There's no way they could have driven that car out of there without being noticed. They obviously had a transport, and the tools they'd need to get in. The considerations required really narrows the list of possibilities (maybe not to a small number, but hopefully a manageable one).

Still hoping Shelby's car shows up!
