    Hey gang!

By now you have seen both Tom Davison's and Brady 1929's threads about this wonderfull day. Now ya get the "hack" version! See, I have kinda an inside track on this deal, as my good buddy, Ron Olmstead started it. He's the guy standing in the yellow shirt next to the blue '32 panel with the Whizzer in the back. See, back about mid 2007 Ron called me up one day and asked if I would help out with a "party" he was throwing for Personal friends with '32s. Absatively says I! When and where? His place in October. Now, what I didn't count on was just how many close personal friends Ron has... We had 110 cars show up from 5 states! I was to official car parker and grouper for photographs and general traffic control, and a good time was had by all!

The next year, Ron very wisely declined to do it again, so George Walker asked if he could pick up the mantle. Wise move! It went to a large local Ford dealers lot, Sanderson in Glendale, and another 110 or so showed and a good time was had by all. Well the other picture you'll see is of George who was sooooo happy this year he literally was skippin' when he ran over to deliver the news that he had 113 cars this year. The rest is of what was out there. Think of this, next year if you are anywhere close to Phoenix the third weekend of October, put this on your plan 'cause you will enjoy!

    Crappy pictures to follow...

In that first batch you'll see Hamber cars from Mike, Hot Rod Ron, Miles M, and I snuck my good buddy 4 banger Troy's '30 coupe in the deal too. (It was segregated though for not quite being "pure"!)Event orginizer George Walker is the guy with the camera, and in the Background is Pat Slavin's ultra pretty black hiboy. Fred Fleet's So Cal deuce is in there, and Don Small's black hiboy too. The black Duvalle'd car was built by AZ Street Rods and is still one of the favorite hoods I've ever done, but I hate to admit I don't know who owns the car these days.

    How about some more?

In the last set, the first is the "semi mystery Vicky" This car just kinda showed up in the Phoenix area about 3 years ago, I'm sorry I'm not sure of the owners name, but the mystery was who did the interior? Looks Martinez to me. Awsome car all the way around! The black car belongs to Valey hot rod legend Frank Pittenger and has been a hot rod here for more than fifty years. The other is a car reacently out of Pinkee's up in Colorado that's livin' here these days, and unless I'm completely wrong I'm pretty sure our own JEEM had a major something to do with the concept and "art direction" on this one.

The next batch is for 3W Larry, it's an original "barn find" '32 roadster. I never got to talk with the owner so I only heard rumors, but from what I heard it was originally out of Maryland and had a mere 54,000 miles or so on the clock. I was a bit too busy talkin' (I call it kissings hands and shaking babies) to get back and get the full scoop.

The last batch we have the barn find car, then the yellow pickem' up is the proud holding of Frank Streff of our local So-Cal, (Promise I'll get your roll pan done this week!) and "Davey Deuce's" primed five window, another H.A.M.B.er in attendence. There seemed to be a surpluss of Vickys runnin' around yesterday too.

Well I thought I had shot more, but it turns out I shot tons of photos of louver stuff I've done over the years and that might get a bit "spammy" and boring for you guys, so I'll spare ya. But I did punch about 1/3-1/2 of the cars there! I'll leave ya with some of the off topic stuff that showed and a couple of cars I had no names for. Thanks guys, you rocked!

P.S. So after all this, Hot Rod Rod and I 'yumped (sorry went all Minnesotian on ya) into the 227 bullet hole coupe and went to Glendale legend "La Perla" for lunch, carefull to enter through the gambling den/bar entrance for some Margis and encheladas... I submit gentleman, It don't get no better than this!

I do have to quickly note the "T" coupe above is owned by Judy and Dick Smith, valley couple of hot rod legend... Dick's '32 is in the Henry Ford Deerborn Museum up in Michigan, and lots of common stuff is still present on Frank Pittenger's car above and Miles M's Green hiboy above too...

Loved the pics, also. I happened to go to Falcon Field and enjoyed the cars and the Commemorative Airforce planes. That B17, Sentimental Journey, is a beautiful plane. I really wished that "Duece Days" was closer to my house. Maybe I cold have enjoyed both events.

I think my friend John Chambers from Glendale (classic chevy parts dealer) has a deuce vicky, might be his.

  15. Ron's 227 and that black Thames grill'd 3 window with the Chevy 6 in it are tied for my two favorite deuce's. Looks like a heck of a day.

Did Ron get new wheels/tires or change his rear spring set? It appears to be sitting different than I remember.

That Vicky is not John C's, but a car that was built in the mid sixties in So Cal and then ended up in Missouri, a Phoenix resident owns it now. It is virtually untouched other than a lowering of the suspension.

  17. Wheels have been changed to 16x4 ford steel in the rear and 16x3 1/2 V8 60 wheels in the frt. tires are 750/16 and 475/16 front. Did take two leafs out of the back and now it sits perfect.

Great time was had by all the free lunch for driving was awesome as well. Can't wait for next year.
