I'm at a loss, the originals are so boring, I bought a pair of 58 Caddy ones that look beautiful but won't fit the Chevy splines. Are there any cool looking handles out there? Mopar ones look great but will they fit a Chevy spline? There's tons of street roddish billet jobs out there but no sporty 60s looking things. Please help me.

Hang in there nads. I have a box with over 100 different handles in it. Might take a bit to get to it, can't promise nuthin, but I'll give look. Since I have a 61 (should be the same spline) I can check before I show ya what fits. No promises on the vent windows but ya never know...

'59's look like '57 handles if I'm thinking correctly...and GM used those thru 1960...go find yourself some '64 Chevy handles...or Pontiac/Buick/Olds...Chevy had black knobs while higher end vehicles of that year used chromed knobs...or check Eckler's Late Great catalog...they have repops...and they'll fit your '59 easily enuff...

Just about any Chevy of later vintage will work on your shafts...

I don't like those either, I love GMs but man their interior handles are boring.

In that case, design your own and then go find someone with a CNC machine to whittle you out a few...aluminum's cheap enuff :D and you can paint them to match whatever your interior is...that's prolly the only way you'll be happy...!!!

Why not convert to power windows and vent-panes? Your new interior would have even more of a futuristic, show car look! :D

I don't think all the 30s, 40s and art deco lookin stuff I found would look right either. Most of what's left in my stash is not even close, the rest is stock and boring too, none of em full sets. Sorry. I've seen the old Cal Customs that resemble the steering wheels quite often. Plain handle punched with holes, woodgrain cap to cover the set screws. I should buy em up when I see em cuz they're always cheap. You know the ones I mean, right? If so, would that work?

Closest yet, I might have to settle for those.

  14. I was going to use '64 Gran Prix handles in my Chevy before I sold it. They looked like they'd fit the era of a 60s custom, they were a little different than the usual GM crank.

It took forever to find an example, but here's a photo of one in an old eBay listing -

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/United-Paci...|Model:Bonneville&hash=item564c41e0db&vxp=mtr

I had to weed through a ton of billet **** to find it. They're different, I'm not sure what all GM used them on, but they did fit on the '50 so I presume they'll work on a '59, there's a lot of interchangability there.

There is a shorty version for vent window cranks, too, if your car has those (I forget if the '59s do that or not).

    These:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/3021-CAL-CUSTOM-VINTAGE-COMPE***ION-STYLE-FORD-CARS-INSIDE-DOOR-HANDLES-u-/200812681548?_trksid=p2047675.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222001%26algo%3DSIC.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D3131876048649836091%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D1%26sd%3D330809815754%26

Sorta "correct" even for the age/era, no?

Quick edit, I have a set of these for mine but the hole needs to be bored out some. The splines in em are just a wee bit small, but they lock on w/set screws. A matching wheel would also be *****in...

I bought some split GM ones off the Eba*, I'm on a time restraint, they're not what I want, I'll hit the swap meet in Daytona, maybe I'll find something space agey and kooky, European cars have some neat handles.

Just an idea,........ if you have the caddy handles, can you change out the window track and door mechanism so the caddy handles fit the caddy window and door splines?

For sure it can be done, i have two splines for the doors already that could be cut and welded to the Chevy mechanisms but I'm frankly kinda sick of this car at this point, I just wanna get her to The Turkey Run and start working on the 61 Caddy.

Most would have given up during the chop, dont give up because of the handles.
