Good luck. Dig the color combo also. Either way, build it so you will drive it. No use to have something you will not enjoy and drive.

  2. Congrats to you! Looking forward to seeing it

I would like to see it get the modern running gear and brakes, steering, but i would leave the rest alone---maybe a dropped headlight bar.:D

Congrats, beautiful car brother. Sounds like you have a great plan. Stick to it, it's hard to stay on track sometimes with all the choices you have ahead.

  18. very cool man, I like it.

  19. Thanks Bruce, I'm ready to get started on it. An Olds Gold Rocket is toward the top of my list. We will see how that plays out. The first order of business is a trip up to Brookeville to get the frame and get started on the suspension.

  20. Why on earth would you mention anything like that to the DMV? The less they know the better. Plus, I would want to keep the option of switching things back w/o the DMV red tape.

  21. I like to fix problems early when they are small and manageable rather than having them come back and bite me later. Were you referring to anything in particular in my post? I agree that the less information you volunteer the better but I wanted him to have the answers when he needed them.

I hope you know I was just bein' silly, Mike. It's great that your smiling wife was right there with you the moment the car came off the trailer. I sincerely wish the two of you wonderful times in your cool Model A.

  23. Nice car! I have a 31 coupe project waiting that is getting a 324 and a 37 shortened Lasalle. Love the old Olds engines. What are your plans for the drive train? My son lives in Lexington and has a 31 he is building as well but with a SBC and a T5. Shouldn't be too far from you. I am subscribing to follow along.

  24. yep, i know. thanks bro

it's still up in the air on my drivetrain. it really depends on what presents itself. I like the old rockets but I would be happy with a 283 or a 327 too. I really don't want anything newer then that. I will more then likely go with an s10 rear.

  25. Nice looking coupe!! I have a couple also, not to be a dick but why the s10 rearend? It sounds like you want to keep the engine earlier so why not stay on track and run a early rearend of some sort.I'm no professional but whatever direction or era your going after stick with it, don't throw a bunch of mismatched parts from different eras on it,the car will have no direction.Just m2c not telling you what to do.Good luck with it and keep posting pics of progress.

  27. Nice. Reaaly cool seeing another Kentuckian here. Will have to watch this build.

  28. I'm still in the planning stages, I haven't settled on anything yet. I didn't want to start buying parts before getting a car and seeing what I have to work with. I'm throwing around lots of ideas and figuring out what will work best for me. I do know I want something I can drive on the freeway with and cruise 70 mph if I want to.

  29. Hi Mike,
You had already pm'd me with some questions about my A. Congrats on the car and welcome to the banger A, AV8, or plain old Model A Hot Rod club! Have you given thought to keeping the 4 cyl and hopping it up? I bought my A about a year ago with a slightly modified banger with a Mitchell OD unit and it drives quite nice. Feel free to contact me with any questions you have and I'll do my best to answer them for you. Good luck on whatever way you decide to build it.

    Tony
