What was pretty wild was the ones that I talked to also said, we have been waiting for somebody to start something like this. They also said man I miss Central, I am there already. I am sure that some will wait to see what happens, and I know others are diffinetly going to be there. I know I had fun Saturday night, can't wait to see what this week brings. Remember we all meet after the last cruise, could be interesting.
Oh man, wish I could have been part of that conversation. What the heck have you been up to in Bakersfield anyways?
Good night on Central more and more cars showing since its getting cooler outside, hope to see a lot more of you guys reading the threads. Come on up and join us, we all are a bunch of cool people. Right guys? Hope to see more people getting together like tonight, you all have a great rest of the weekend.
We took the Scambler dragster to the CA Hot Rod Reunion. Also picked up a car from the Petersen... Its 3 in the morning, just got home and its finally sinking in that a few hours ago I was in the vault touching stuff like the Ala Kart, and the Mach 5, and some Bugatti's, and some other rad shit. You guys can see the pics when I wake up in a day or two...
Pics are on face-space for now cause alot of them are OT. Pics here------------------> http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.511068648911853.123383.100000261676905&type=1 I have to figure out how to get the Petersen vault pics out of my Clinton-era cell phone before I can post those.
Dude! Awsome!! When you texted last night I was soooo wishing I was you! I was going to ask you to take some shots of the Niekamp car for me 'cause that is my hands down favorite, but figured "naw it's HIS night".... Must telepathy!
Looking forward to Saturday night, Corvette still isn't fixed yet but I will be there one way or another. You all have a great Friday and Saturday, see you that night. Looking forward to seeing the Falcon.
For all those out there viewing our threads, put in a comment about when you were up here also. Doesn't matter if it was in the 60s 70s or 80s, they were all good times lets talk. You all have a good day
Lets see,,, There was the Orange Julious 1 block north of Camelbac, the Bobs Big boy. Shakeys Pizza Parlor, The Der Weinerschnitzel & the McDonalds on central just south of Indianschool. Used to meet at the Pepper Tree rest. om central to go out to the midnight drags. We would go all the way out past Bell Rd on 7th street to drag race. Was on a first name basis with most patroll cops on Central. Some even new my home phone number to call my mom!! Was also on a first name basis with a juvy court Judge! Used to go to south mountain park at night & race up & down from the lookout point! This was all mid 60's to mid 70's.
I used to park at Firestone, that.s when I ran into ( one ) of the fastest cars on Central. 1969 Mach 1 owned by Billy Hazlett, unfortunately seen it split in two pieces on Central January 28th 1978. Went to the car wash after they kicked us out of Firestone, something about a bunch of beer bottles on the roof ( don't have a clue who did that ). Being wiser Tee Hee we kept the parking lot clean, I remember waking up on the hood of my 67 GTO at 5:00am and still some people there. What a time! We are down there every Saturday 6:30pm ish at McDonalds come on guys come down and join us, and lets swap stories and have fun again.
The Corvette is fixed and will be on Central Saturday, 35.00 plastic piece 2 hrs. to install. I am back in the saddle again. I hope you all have had a fantastic week so far, see you there.
I will ne be able to attend!! I will be out at Speedworld Raceway Park for the Pontiac, Buick, Olds Fall Fest!!! Drag races, car show & swap meet all at the same time at the same place!!! Hope to see some of you there!!!!
I was there in 1958 in my Chrysler 6 powered 1951 red 2-door Plymouth. Iwas from Globe on my way to work in California. My friend had a '51 Olds which was set too low for spring action. The frame later broke.
Me too! This Saturday at Speedworld is the Pontiac Buick Olds Fall Fest. Join us for a fun day with racings, car show with awards, parts exchange plus special guest- historian, author and moreMr. Jim Wangers. Among many other things Jim won the US Nationals stock eliminator in 1960! For the non Pontiac Buick and Olds , we will offer an open test and tune lane for all makes and models. We'll probably run a gambler for them too. We are also having diesel truck drags, burn out contest and more. Lots of fun for $15 to spectate. more info, call me 480-899-7873 Steve
