I put a for sale sign on my 41 coupe at the last cruise of the year. It was kind of a joke but I now have a guy who wants it bad. I'm not sure I can let it go but it would allow me to start on my convertible. Coupe is my avator. What would you guys do he's willing to pay my price.

You'll need to give us a little more info and more pics so we can see what we're pricing fo you.

Some force made you put the sign on it. If you have someone willing to pay your price, that's another mystical force. What would I do? Use the force, sell it!

I see you have some backup Plymouths to replace this gem. One of the most beautiful body, trim, and sweet lines ever produced. The subtle two tone is tremendous. You will miss this ol buddy more than you know. Good Luck ~sololobo~

May the force be with you.
I sold my 55 Chevy wagon to a guy who kept pestering me. Actually traded it to a local club member while 140 miles away.
Damned. Took three years to get my wagon back. It's mine. And I wanted it back!
People and cars get attached. Another thread is about cars having a soul and a mind of their own. My wagon was calling me wanting to come home.
No way I'm telling you what to do. You and your 41 have minds of your own.:D
No I don't really believe this ****!

That's a tough question that only you can answer. I would ask myself these questions:

    1) Is the advantage of building the convertible instead of keeping the coupe paramount or are there other factors that are important to me?
    2) have the past 30 years been good one with the car or a pain in the ****?
    3) are my wife and kids attached to this car...is it part of the family...what are their thoughts?
    4) am I just bored and looking to do something different or am I really ready to move on from the coupe.

I like your coupe from what I can see in your avatar. Not sure what the convertible is. Good luck!

depends on the condition of the convertible. if youre gonna have a better car AND money to play with, I"d probably do it. If Im gonna be down a car and invest ALL the money (and maybe more) Id leave it alone. its a nice *** car

    this is important!

when I sold my 1940 packard, and my daughter was pissed, she said I had promised to take her to the senior prom in it (I forgot about that, and had no idea she cared!)

I think if you put the sign on it, and got an agreement to on your asking price, your kind of obligated to sell it.

I sold my Model A and a 68 Camaro. Everyone ( well not everyone ) told me I was crazy but I have not looked back. It was the only way that I could get the 1957 Chev that I had dreamed about for years. I realized one day that I was not getting any younger and to get a 57 was really something I wanted to do. If selling one car will help with the other and it is important to you then move forward. Sure makes building the next car easy when there is a big pile of cash there to work from

  16. You've had the car for 30 years. 30 years of great adventures and memories and miles of roadtrips together? or 30 years of it sitting under a tarp in a garage and occasionally going to a show? If it's not part of the family then I wouldn't even hesitate.

  17. Don't put a 'for sale' sign on something if you don't want to sell it.

sounds like you are in a spot. If I had put a sign on it, I would have to sell it. I was taught that a mans word is what a man is. just my $.02

That is the part I really don't get.........how is a For Sale sign a joke ? What did you think was going to happen when someone asked some questions.......... say "Haha, I was just kidding, it really isn't for sale !"

Either a car is for sale or it isn't.

    If it's just a car...sell it.

If it's part of you ...how can you sell it ?

  23. you mean people actually KEEP these things?

every car i've ever bought was for sale the minute i bought it.

30 years? guess i just haven't met the right one.

That is EXACTLY why I don't mess around by putting a for sale sign on either of my coupes or my A100 pickup.....someone might want to pay the price.

^^^ That, and speaking for myself, sometimes after they're built, it's not as much fun as the building. This could finance the next project. fwiw

Be A MAN-do what the heck you want to. If you like it, sell it. If you love it, keep it. A for sale sign is not a contract. But you shoulda thought before you threw yer hook in the water.

You put a for sale sign on it and now you don't want to sell it, after someone wants to buy it? If it was a joke, I guess it didn't go as planned. A for sale sign isn't a contract, but if I was the other party, I'd be telling my buds about the jerk that wasted my time. I'm not saying you're a jerk, but it would look that way. Put yourself in the other guys shoes. How would YOU feel?

If you can live with teasing the guy, don't sell it. The "I'm THAT guy." sign is optional.

Not sure why you need the peanut gallery to weight in, but you put the sign on it, so sell it. It would be a joke if your buddies put the sign on the car not if you did.
