I dig the organ pipes. There were a few inliner dragster events at Irwindale in 68 or so. Just enough for a 4 car show. Still, the racing was cool despite the light turnout.
i grew up around 6 cyl drag racing with the Williams and Bohannnon "SIX PACK" pinto in the 70's best time of my life
Partsman, do you have anymore pics or info of the Pinto?Currently building one(long term project LOL) here's some pics of mine, will try to make it look somewhat period correct for a I-J/ Gas class car.
LOL FTF, wheelbarrow full of cash would be great!. Gonna go buy some lucky Powerball tickets today so I get her finished up.
How many remember "Ike Iacono" and his 303 Wayne Head GMC inline roadster? LADS, Colton, Riverside, San Fernando and many others. What a car and what a great person too! There are others here too. Kay Sissell really built up some top contenders too. His legend still lives with his shop in West Covina. Normbc9
A couple more pictures of Ike's Roadster. Rodder's Journal did a great article on the car in issue #44.
No I dont my brother has all the pics and is trying to find them for me. Im also getting TJ Williams trying to round some up also...I will post them as soon as I get them..btw im digging your Pinto .
The Slant Six was one of the long line of successful Chrysler engine designs. I still see them racing and they still amaze a lot of folks at the track. Coupled with a worked over A-727 would make a real competitive racer if done right. Normbc9
I've thought about putting a flattie in one of those split-windows. Bowtie boys would probably burn my house down.
"I've thought about putting a flattie in one of those split-windows. Bowtie boys would probably burn my house down." Ha! Yes. There used to be a 67 Camero on the west coast in the 70's that ran a Ford flathead V-8. Anything to "fit" into a class! - EM
Workin on a FED rite now and Frenchtown Flyer has helped me more than he knows Been private messaging him to death I'm really excited about the 300 six Ford deal been V8 stuff all my life now ready to go another way! CANT WAIT
Blindmule, can't go wrong there! Have a friend that built a FED with a 300 from another racing friend up in Colorado.I'll post up pics in a few days
Partsman, Here's a few more 6 cyl. Pintos Photos by Mike Gagnon Photos by Rob Potter Kecks' Chopped top Pinto
Do you have any more info on this car??? That looks like a 385 Big Block cylinder head(s) crafted to the 300 block???
300racr thanks for the pics bet that one with the trumpet looking header is wicked sounding Have you seen it run and what was the E.T.? do you know anything about the motor Thanks
Anyone remember the Altered Bantam Roadster that I believe Car Craft helped build for an Explorer Scout troop with a Pontiac OHC 6 in the late 60s ? I ran as a build feature for several months in the magazine.
FrozenMerc, I came across the pic from an old Goodguys race,Looks to be a old 351Cleveland hybrid head,3 heads cut and furnace brazed together.
I haven't had a chance to hear it run yet.I will see if I can find out more info on the motor for you.A few posts back the yellow FED the car owner built the engine for my friend in Colorado, that engine was capable of running 8's.I think it is pretty much the same.
300 I cant figure out how to post pics on here lol I have one of the 51 Anglia Six Pack we ran before the Pinto
