Projects 59 El Camino.. Part Two

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by J.Fishbeck, Nov 10, 2011.

  1. I had some lifting in the primer, so I stripped it down and sprayed etching primer.

    Then lacquer primer

Then guide coated and blocked.. Fun fun!

That bad boy is about as far around as the 65 Bird I am blocking out. Lots of long board time with 400 on all the flat surfaces on it!

  5. I'm changing the ball joints on my 57 , lunch break right now.. I will probably block it some more later. Definitely tomorrow.. definitely

Sanding, I'm past that stage on mine, all those weeks of work and I still see waves.

  8. It's funny you bring that up. We've always used old newspaper (new paper shed the ink too easily). But the news paper is going the way of the DoDo, so my supply is all dried up. I just broke down and bought my first roll of green making paper. There I go explaining again.. I'll clean it up today!

I know there's gonna be somethings I won't be happy with. I just won't look at em. I'm just gonna pretend they aren't there!

Nads, I was only yanking Jay's chain. Jay, sorry for giving you a complex about the over spray. But you know me, I'm an asshole full of humor. By the way!, I did like the Gold over spray in the 007 Movie, Gold Finger ;):D

  14. No worries! I knew it would clean up.. Otherwise, I would've freaked out when it happened. I'm the only asshole, for taking too long on this build.. as my family member keeps reminding me!

  15. I had a great time, up at El Mirage, today. Pulled my first patrol duty, rode in Jeff Brocks Buick back up the return road, then met & hung out with FatLucky, the trimmer. Cold as fuck today, too. Brrrrrrrrr!

    El Camino is looking good

  17. Thanks for that! I seen one at Elmir, ystrdy.. They're neat little trucks!

  18. The cylinder heads I've been working on are for my 55. I'm now on my third and final pair. First ones were practice, they were no good, plus two different combustion chambers= Nah. Second pair of 291's had new 1.5 exhaust seats, which interfere with the 1.6 swap. So we checked some 491's he had, they mag'd out and they're already2.02/1.6's. So I'm going to unshroud these int. valves, clean up the runners and port match the openings.. then send 'em back to him to be CC'd.

Etching primer on the hood and under hood panel. I don't know how I missed those high and low spots in the hood. But regardless, I did.. you can't hide from black. So I was a shrinkin' fool, today! An of course I should've done them when I had the bottom structure cut out.. could've got right to them!

  23. It's a four door.. Really?!? The super cab elco plans, supersedes the square factor of the four doors. I needed the roof, and this thing has sat for years.

Hi C, your a bottom guy, I was think'n top end myself ;)

  29. I almost fell in love.. for like 2, 3 minutes! Then I remembered.. HALF!

  30. The front end is good enough for a desk.. but I wouldn't spend the money or take the time to restore the hood and fenders for the street.
