Well my dad bought another car. We picked it up last Sunday in Hobbs New Mexico. It belonged to some family friends, its a 2 owner car and has been in the 2nd owners possession since 1968. All original with a nice patina in my opinion. Plans are to get it going by LSRU 13'. Here is a pic of the night we picked it up.
Can anyone give me tips on the "CLR wash"? We're gonna leave the patina and add some white here and there. Plan on working on it tomorrow.
Thanks guys! I like it cause it's all original minus that p***enger wheel and hubcaps missing. The motor will be replaced cause it was left exposed to the elements has dirt inside it. Only 1 small piece of cancer, gonna leave it like that. Gives it character, just polish up the chrome.
When I was little my folks had a '60 Biscane and I thought it was the ugliest car on the road. Now, I'd LOVE to be able to afford a nice '60 Imapla. I'm envious of your find. Doc
A guy on here did that with a '61 wagon, can't think of his name. I think you use a scotch bright pad and CLR or OSPHO, I think he cleared it after the wash. Neat car btw.
I've done some research and already bought the CLR. Let's see how it goes. Thanks for the compliments!
Neat deal, really nice chevy! My wife has a 60 brookwood station wagon and it's like riding on a cloud. Glad to hear you're going to keep her stock and good luck with your project.
Thanks!... I've been doing research and I saw "SKIMs" car , that car is slick!... If we do work on the CLR wash it might be a little while till we clear so we might have to re-CLR wash before we clear.
Man I would love to own a 60's wagon to haul the family around. Gonna keep it "mostly stock" I think plans or now are: Air ride, cleared patina, polished chrome, get her running with a SBC, Coker whitewalls & hubcaps or spider caps, some interior work.
NICE!! That roof line flows really sweet with all that stainless trim. It is a nice of a 4-door car out there. Congrats on a cool find and really dig your plan for it. Hope I see at LSRU 13. ~sololobo~
Ooh, put the yellow wing on it. Is that a fake scorpion standing there? Cool car, let us know how the wash comes out.
I am not trying to be negative but it's just that I remember when those 4 doors were considered "part cars" and now days they are cool because they are old.
It's off a newer GTO the scorpion is one of those made of copper wire. The wash came out pretty good. Still need to do a bit more and clean windows and polish chrome
Yeah I hear you, if it was a 2 door or even a wagon I think it would be a lot cooler, but not bad for $1,500 huh?
Wow just 6 years older than mine and I'm one year too new for the HAMB. I think you did good. 4 door or not Impalas are a great. I did not know about a CLR wash, I didn't understand what you were up to with that. Looks fabulous.
Wow!!!Nice Car! I like Your plans with it, too. That car deserves to be spared just the way it survived the last 52 years! Always been a huge fan of the early Impalas, and that gloss black will really set off all that nice, shiny trim just right. Good luck, should be a stand-out at any show You might go to!
