Always liked attending the dirt track races. I started going when there were still a few 55's still racing. We are talking 1969. The number 7-11 car looks like its at the long defunct Corona Speedway in Corona Cal.

I bought the CD series for my then 8 year old son. He liked them. The cliff hanger endings really had him going.

Looking for the late, great Bud Elkins somewhere in the background. There is a book out, well several really, that deals specifically when McQueen competed in the 62 or 63 ISDT. All cool candid shots of him competing in the olympics of off road motor cycle sport. When I had a place in Mexico, we would venture to a restaurant that served great sea food. It was at one time a cancer hospice and McQueen underwent alternative therepy there in the very early 80's. About 15 miles south of Rosarito.

There used to be a lot of ice harvesting in VT on smaller lakes than this before refrigeration. The guys who did this were pretty clever, and came up with some great ways to improve upon the traditional hand held saws. Some rigs were stripped down model T's with a buzz saw blade on the rear end. This is a big time operation, with a nifty saw rig.

OK...I don't know how old this photo is, never seem gas pumps on the grass but it is a fabulous auto..[/QUOTE]

Empire, sorry if I come off as a prick here, but you know well that's no VINTAGE shot. As a bro said early on: "If it doesn't fit, you must OMIT."
