that Lumina has seen better days...

I like the thought and detail going into this project Matt. You're probably right that not many others would bother, but it will be a good example of just how nice a sports coupe CAN look as a roadster conversion.

Well, it's been through the original owner, then my grandma and after she passed away, my sister and brother shared this in high school and afterwards, the sister took it until she got a new car a couple years ago. I'm actually surprised it's still intact. Still runs and drives and everything too.

Exactly what I'm aiming for here. Granted, it would have been much easier to start with a roadster but not everyone can afford a genuine steel roadster body and various coupe bodies (excluding the regular coupe) are only a few hundred up to just over a thousand and still around. I'm trying to emphasize that with some thought and time, you can make anything look good.

My next challenge will be to make a "bobber" truck out of an AD Chevy cab look good...

    ...Just kidding. :D

Not really. I would say you're still ahead of me by quite a bit from what I see in your PhotoBucket. For real.

Lookin' good Bro! I see you've made a bit of progress since we spoke last. I'm working on a sport coupe/coupster for a client that I'll be posting later today. I'll shoot you a PM when it's up. There's some stuff on it I'm sure you'll love. I'm bangin' away on my LSRU ride. Hoping to meet up with you there.

Nope, dude.. Haha. I wouldn't expect much progress until maybe mid-November. Mid-December at the latest, that's when the Fall semester ends.

Me too.. Feels like the books are the ones doing the hitting though.

  10. Nice work so far!! Nothing wrong with taking your time. It will probably save you time in the end as you can think things over more as you go and not have to redo things because you rushed to get them done and then realize a better way to do it later.

No, I'm wanting a metallic green but RoyalShifter used a color very similar to that on his wife's Vic so now I'm not sure if I want to use it. I've been exploring other colors but I'm a long ways from being paint-ready so no worries.

The dash will be different from stock. I had something planned but as usual, I'm reevaluating that route. When I get to that fork in the road, then I'll keep you guys updated on that.

There have already been a few changes that I haven't posted about on here but they're changes that's going to help move this build along much faster and with much better quality. I'll update you guys on that next month after I've had some free time to work on it.

Nothing to note.. School won't be out until the first week of December or so. I've been collecting parts and have amassed quite the collection of parts to get it closer to done. Just keep an eye out in December.

No.. Sticking with the '39 trans. After talking to Chris Casny and Brian Bass, the top-loader will be just fine. But just to be safe, I still have that "piece" on the shelf. Just in case. ;)

LaSalle...? Who would have one of those things? :D

Can't wait to see some progress. The Revolution should have been enough inspiration for anybody to get to work on their projects.

Get on it, april's right around the corner.

Do you think you are going to get away without cutting the second pie cut behind the front crossmember?

If it was set at seven degrees, plus your five degree cut that would put it at twelve degrees. I know there's some play in the spring mounting, but I figured it's best to keep the two as close as possible. Just wondering because I didn't want to do the second cut either, but I think it for sure adds to the "broken frame" look.

    Looking good!

Nope.. I'm going to have to cut behind the front and get it down to 7 degrees. Currently, it's sitting at about 10 because of the rake so it's not too bad at 3 over. I haven't gotten the proper front tires yet. I have rollers that are real close to the size I'll be getting however. I think I'll be okay. :)

Today marks exactly one month until winter break begins.

Sounds good. Thanks. I didn't mean it in a bad way, I was just wondering.

I have 6.0x16 tires out front, but I saw a T-bucket thread with a fella running the Shinko 240 Classic tires and thought about running those to get the front end down a tad more, without messing with my steering parts. .

I just found this and haven't read it all yet but I will. You do good work and it is clear you have learned a lot and seem to be getting advice from some of the HAMB's best.

Thanks! It's not so much getting it from them as it is me bugging them until they let me know what I needed to know. :) I still have a few real cool hot rod pieces that I haven't made publicly known just yet...

    That'll come in December.

  25. I think I know one of those hot rod pieces but I promise not to ruin it. By the way any chance you're going for a PhD in suspense building? You're pretty good at it! :)

I'll just practice my drum roll until December then...

A friend of mine ran a custom/rod shop in Carson City for years. There was a high school kid that came in and asked for a job. He said he wanted to learn all about what they did. They pretty much chased him away, They didn't want to be bothered. He came back several times. Finally they looked up one day and he was sweeping the floor. They decided to let him hang around and see what happened. That kid has a Shop in Carson city now and is one of the best painters I have ever seen. Beautiful Customs and Rods roll out of his shop and even in this economy in a State that is worse off than most he is busy. He bugged them until the taught him what he wanted to know.:D

Well, there are a few others that you don't even know yet. Just wait.

Du-du-du-du-du-dunn-dunnnnnn.. Oh, and quit bumping my thread to the top. That isn't going to get anything done! ;)

That goes for you as well!

Well, I've got a bright future ahead of me then. :)
