The mounts are from Trans dapt, They work fine, they just look plain, but that can be fixed.

My truck has a 70-71 Torino front clip installed, it was that way when I bought it and works well. It might not be 'Traditional' but I sure like the powersteering, power disk brakes, and independant front suspension.

I'm using a drop axel in mine. The front is as low as it's going to get, I still want to drop the rear some.

I might be able to use the tach, I don't have one yet. I think the other side has an air gauge in it, not sure, but I don't think I need one of those.

  9. Yes the tach on the left and the air on the right. Have you seen my thread on my 60 f100?

  10. You are making good progress and it's a great looking truck. HRP

I don't know if the tach would work. I've got a sbc in the truck. Would it have to have a custom cable?

I found a hitch thats looks like it will work with just a little work. I think it was on a 80's Ford e100. The carbs are apart and clean, hopefully I can run the center carb to get it going then get the other two set up. I may have some questions for the Rochester tri power guru's about setting them up.

I'd like to drop the rear of the truck 3 inches, I don't want to put the axel on top, I think thats going to lower it to much. Maybe remove a leaf? I'm still going to use it as a truck. Any ideas?

Get a lowering shackle for the rear spring, then de rivet the front spring hanger and move it up the same amount as the shackle. That should give you a couple at least and keep your driveshaft at the same angle it's at.

I've heard of moving the front spring perch up and using longer shackles. Ask Sid (aka "55 Mercury") he has dropped many of these.

... mattrod68 beat me to it!

  16. A cable wouldn't be to hard to have made or expensive either.

Does any one make a lowering shackle?

  18. Yes there is a company who makes them. I was actually reading somebodys thread here the other day. I can't seem to find it now.

I wonder how much it would lower the truck if I had the eyes on the springs reversed?

Made some new brackets to mount the radiator and got started on making the exhaust this week. I'm going to have to figure out a way to get heat into the cab as well, I think it's going to be cold this winter.

  22. Yeah I was wondering the same about the reversed eyes. My truck has a stock heater but not sure how.it works

I think I have a place to reverse the spring eyes. When I get them back I'll let you know how much it lowered the truck.

    Thanks !

I got the alternator mounted low on the driver side, and looking at the original wiring I think it might be a good idea to rewire the engine bay.
