Who has Junkyard or abandoned carpics?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Edsel58a, Sep 18, 2008.

  1. Because the scrap man will pay me up front, buy everything, won't bitch about missing parts or pieces, won't wreck six other cars trying to get his out because he buys all of them, is insured and has his own equipment, won't sue me if he or his people get hurt, and uses up a small amount of my time for a large payout. You want to buy just one car, plan to pay extra for me to have to deal with just you on my insurance and my risk and my having to babysit you for however long it takes to remove the car.

You are sooright everybody whines and whimpers about destroying these good cars saying they want this part or that..then when it comes down to it they want you to remove it pay shipping to send it to them then bitch that is no good... when it comes down to it nobody will step up to the plate and buy it so off to the scrapper it goes...

RustyNY is exactly right...I would only add that if you have employees you end up losing even more...After nearly 30 years of this type of nonsense I am very glad I moved on to being just another old car guy...

Right, guys. Just who's the so-called "weirdo" here? I've heard enough of guys bitching about difficult junkyard owners. Too many people out there don't seem to realize that owners, first, take worn-out cars off peoples' hands when nobody else wants them. Then -- what? -- you expect them to hold onto them for years, even decades, then sell them, or choice parts, for freakin' junk price? Gimme a break. Instead of bitching, why not treat these people the way YOU would expect to be treated.

  6. ...this is a 38 Chevy...not an Olds....great thread BTW.

My Grandpa bought an Identical 56 vicky off the showroom floor in 56. Too bad the last time he saw it, it looked about like this. :(

not sure if it's been mentioned, but the web site "carsinbarns.com" has some pictures of cars (not all are HAMB friendly) abandoned or stored and ignored.

WOW, 56FRLN! A '55 DeSoto STILL with its TEETH in place? It looks as though the whack to the bumper didn't hurt the grille, either.;) How long ago was this pic taken? Any chance this DeS is still there?

Overpriced car hoarders and cars being set out that are or could easily be drivers is unfortunate. A lot of cars would've otherwise been crushed if not sitting in some field. As said when selling cars one by one or part by part, it can take a lot of time and patience. If anyone wants to save a Corvair, '62 Galaxie, or '51 Plymouth, etc look here and send me a pm

  17. Comments like this are amusing when I know where two are for sale, have been for sale for a long time, and could easily be found by anyone. The prices aren't crazy, either.

I would love to know specifically where this is and if you have contact info for the property owner. I looked at the rest of your shots on PhotoBucket. Really cool. Thanks.

Oldsmobile in local junkyard. Someone hit everything with a hammer . Looks close to my 41 buick body style . Breaks my heart to see them in this state of condition .
