...really OLD eye candy that's functional. Like remote oil filters, fuel filters, finned coils, tach transmitters, fuel blocks, fuel lines, brackets, mounts...race car looking stuff from the '40's-'50's... Hildebrandt, Spilko, Blue Streak, Offenhauser, Bee Hive, etc.

Stuff mounted on the firewall or engine...show what you got that's old and cool...

Here's a neat WWII aircraft fuel filter I just got...

I am so disapointed ... you only used a dollar bill for size comparison.:(

A HIGH ROLLER named Roller should have used a
    hundred dollar bill ...

I really like the real deal Bee Hive oil filters. There is just something about them that I am drawn towards.

I also love seeing old air craft hose clamps with the finger turn tops on them. I have a few for my '32 eventually.

Little details make the car like if safety wire is used but definitely not over used.

I got this off Ebay not too long ago. It is NOS even with a water slide decal.

I'd love to actually install it, but it is original only once so I am torn..

The parts list inside was updated 8/10/63... so I assume it is from around that time.

You are absolutely right! The little details make the difference bewteen something that looks "right" and something just thrown together. This thread is right on time. I love cool engine bay accessories.I'm starting to think about how I'm going to do up King Of Trucks' under the hood to give it that regal pedigree it's name suggests.

I've got a feeling you're about to find out with this thread! :D

  9. I am a member at a local aircraft museum where we also restore our 'birds. You should see some of the things we have in the parts collection!!

One of my weaknesses are WWII Aircrafts and parts and I have a collection of parts of my own. Some of them will find there way onto my car and others will go in trade for the parts I want from the museum.
I mean I don't have much use for the two stage supercharger from a Mk VIII Spitfire (Merlin 70) but I can swap it to the museum for a lot of what I DO want!
Hey, the MK VIII was an Aussy Spit, its an Aussy museum, you better believe they have been trying to get that out of me for a while! I will swap it for 'perishables' clamps, filters all the little things that can form a sort of 'theme' of aircraft parts used in he construction of the car.

Not really "accessorized". Most of the parts are essential, like the old chrome oil pan, water pumps, canister oil filter, Stellings-style air cleaners, upper water hoses, fuel pump stand and breather, and generator. Gotta have the vintage fuel block to split the line, thumb screw clamps on the hoses, and the SW tach drive on the crank to show the RPM's. Maybe you could call the Klaxon horn an accessory.

This is pretty rare I've been told. Made before Edelbrock had their own mold with the raised letters. Was some kid stamping them in the back with a big hammer?

more fuel filters but check out the brass fittings in the aircraft style. I've never seen any others like it. I added the pet cock drain.

A couple of old air filters that are not being repoped.:D

Tommy, that is the exact same fuel block I used on the engine above, but mine wasn't stamped "Edelbrock". The kid must have been on a break when the order came in.

I figured it was a generic block that Edelbrock stamped back when he was selling on the salt??? Maybe he was making them and supplying them unstamped to other parts suppliers??? I don't know... only speculation.

Not flathead but these were in the Weiand catalog in 1952. "Convertible" valve covers that came drilled for Olds or for the Stude V8 depending on how the holes were drilled. These were sold for an Olds originally but I redrilled it to fit my Stude engine. The extra holes filled with just bolts gets lots of head scratchin':D

Lets bump this cool thread up again. I'll start with a question. I just found this old item, It looks like an aircraft fuel filter, but I have not seen another one like it to verify. Any idea's? (again, I'm talking about the finned aluminum part, not the Coors can!)

Yeah, only original once, but it could be boring forever if you just keep it in that box. :)

Yep, absolutely that's what it is . Unfortunately
it will only fit on the "rare" (and also with slight
    modifications, on certain, selected "ultra-rare"
model Henways - and NOT on the ubiquitous,
    "common as dirt" standard garden-variety
    Henway models!!!!:eek::eek::D

That henway filter must be a cannister filter adapter, with a STILKO filter on the bottom...

Nothing like using TP to filter your oil....

  30. I made radiator overflow tank out of an old Mobiloil Gargoyle oil can, looks pretty cool well I think it is and its fuctional.
