The silver car looks super clean with the stock hood. I found a stock hood for a 64h with trim for 100a bucks...!
Your Welcome. Take a look at this one, it's the 50's Truck Style you have been talking about. I used one of these on my Willys I built that you can see pictures of in my picture ablum here on the HAMB. Click here: http://scottrodscustom.com/hoodscoops.html
Just be aware that your changing the front end geometry while lowering the rear of the car.... and the car is going to "scoop" much more air undernearth it. I can tell you from first hand experiance from a '63 Chevy II we had done like that back-in-the-day it was a seriously scarey ride. So scarey, we came within inches of rolling the car. Back to the garage and dropped it back down to level.... I just don't want to see anyone get hurt or killed.
I had a sneaky feeling you where thinking the same as I. In my opinion, that is the style of scoop that belongs on his Chevy II today if your going to be true to the correct era.
I Actually just layed a broom stick across the engine compartment and the air cleaner sticks up a little higher then the fender.I thought about cutting a hole in the hood and putting a big air cleaner through the hood. SO MANY CHOICES...
X2 on the Shelby/Cal Automotive type scoop shown in post #18. Speedway has it cheaper http://www.speedwaymotors.com/GT-350-Shelby-Style-Hood-Scoop,1399.html and since you don't have provisions for hinges, use it with a pin on stock style hood like this http://www.up22.com/chevy62.htm#CH-200 It should be light enough for you to remove by yourself if needed. I also used to glue 4 foam blocks to the bottom so it can be placed out of the way on the roof without damaging the paint when working on things.
Just remember this, if you are serious about making the car fit a specific era, you got to stay true to the items used at that time. So, where in Florida are ya?
That fake injector set up is the same price as a real injector set up! I looked into it for my Valiant
Back in the 70`s my brothers 63 nova had a L88 scoop on it and I think it would fit the theme, kinda era correct. Just a thought!!!
May I suggest a pair of Cal Custom "Panther" scoops. I will look for a picture and post it if I can find one. They are perfect for that car. I found one that was previosly in the classified section. I think these would look the part.
You don't NEED a scoop, so the coolest thing on your street car would be a nice stock hood in my opinion.
