  1. Daaaaamn, I don't think I'da told that brutha. :D

A 10% set back on a car with a 100" wheel base would be 10" from the axle center to the first plug. What's the wheel base of the car in question? Set back is a percentage of the wheel base of the car.

  2. Yes, those were our cars. The wreck was the end result of too much beer and total lack of brains. Lost control on a curve, skid across the road, hit the soft shoulder which flipped the car, continued on it's top shearing off an elderly ladies front porch and eventually wrapped itself around an elm tree. (which didn't move by the way). The end result was minor scratches for the 3 idiots in the car, and some skinned knuckles on the driver because the roof crushed down enough to trap the hand. Had to hacksaw the wheel to free it.
As I said earlier, these cars were cheap and plentiful in the day.

  12. This was my ride when I came back from overseas in 1970. I took off all the excess trim and made it a sleeper in my mind. 390/4speed. I would buy it back today if I could find it again.

A few years later I found a good 32 Ford coupe and started building my coupe.

thanks for the trip. i grew up in the 70's and remember the time well. i graduated in 79 and left for the navy on graduation day. i drove a 73 impala with high jacker air shocks and n50x15 tires on back. i still love that style as my o/t 67 rambler will have a straight axle and big fat tires in the rear. i have just in the last couple of years thought about traditional style of rides and am trying to go with a mild custom on my 63 chevrolet truck. thanks again for the memories.

  28. Man this is cool!! I had one almost the same. A freind and I stuffed a 401 in it, after a customer had his crashed Ambassador towed to Dads dealership during one of our weekend shop nights. Dad was sure pissed on Monday morning, but raised hell on saturday night!!!
