    thank you very much!!

well, The Bright Shire are still putting the event on next year....however, there is alot of mixed emotions regarding their ability to put on a successful event.

Big drive for you to be dissapointed, so maybe take the gable, as Bright is seriously beautiful!, or wait and see what the outcome is!

Argh man, i'm not really the best person to ask! But in a nutshell, the club who hold the event, The NSSR have had enough of Bright "taking advantage" of "their Entrants". Accomodation is very limited and costs a fortune....and thats basically it....

If you really want my honest opinion, its a load of BS!!!!

Sort of what was claimed happened to Wintersun?
Bright looks like an ideal town for a rod-run - even if it is a bit isolated.

i am really unsure with what happened to Wintersun?? someone else took it over?

Bright is an amazing town and so perfect for such an event. With the history of the event behind the town, hopefully it sticks around, and true Rod Run form, for many years to come!

  12. hey i got family up there anyway it'd be worth driving up there just to see them

If similar to Wintersun, accommodation is still the same, limited and expensive, despite a change in organisers. People make money from the cars and don't offer concessions to those who bring in the tourist $$. I've personally never been but wish I had the opportunity; I've heard it is picturesque country side and those who attended loved the experience.

Bright is a tourist town, you pay the extra because its a tourist town...thats bottomline for me. The one thing i do dissagree on is having minimum night stays of 3 or more.

its absolutely amazing up there, rain or sun shine! you may well get the opportunity to attend if the shire makes it work next year!

    Nice photos mate.
I live just out of Bright and own a business in town.
What a kick *** weekend it always is. Where ever the run ends up it will be hard to replicate the feel of Bright.

Spoke to lots of people over the weekend and cost of accomodation is
an issue for some not all. The minimum stay thing was a big factor in the
nssr pulling out (from what l read)

There has been a lot of talk on the ozrodders site.
I am sick of reading about that stuff,, just want to enjoy the cars.

Accomadation people became greedy, in fact I heard one motel they canceled the bookings of the NSSR who run the event so a Mustang club could take the whole motel and these people ( from the Mustang club) do not enter the event.

NSSR will most likely run the event again but in a new location where the Accom people will support the event. New location, new venue but most likely the same time and same weekend.

Whatever happens in Bright in the future will not be run by NSSR.

I remember going to Bright back in the early 80's - it rained, a lot.
Beautiful place, and it sounds like the accom owners are trying to gouge the rodders who bring dollars to their town. Probably just a bunch of desparate people who want to try to milk the cow too much. Now they've killed it.
I support the rodders taking their game to wherever they wish - they have a good product that has proven itself over 30+ years, and there are plenty of places either side of the Great Dividing Range that are just as beautiful.
Great pics and thanks for posting.

Thanks Tom, Bright is one of the most picturesque towns in Victoria. Just gorgeous, And even more so when the town turns back in time for one weekend!

wow, is that truth? i really dont agree with clubs, and motelers doing that!

It'll be an interesting time, but really a damn shame for the NSSR to leave Bright as its the perfect place for such an event.

Thank you so much for also taking your time to look at my site and the rest of the Bright coverage. Hopefully you enjoyed the series of photos!

Thank you very much Dale. Nope, its all digital(canon 5dmkii). My background is film, and i still do shoot quite alot of film, however, the digital age is a very cheap age in comparison!

    Thanks again!

Exactly right. They had a money cow that brought in over a million dollars for one weekend. Now they've killed it.....silly, SILLY people.

    Thanks for the support!

    Hey thanks man!

How good is this coup! i dont have many, i'm sorry. I actually dont know why i didnt take more, as its a personal favorite! It runs a 318 mopar though.

Check out the australian magazine, STREET MACHINE MAGAZINE HOT ROD ANNUAL. I'm sure you'd be able to order online? it has a full feature on the car :)

  28. Not quite! I stopped going about 6 years ago (been going since the mid 90's) after being shafted by my accomodation provider back then, we lost our original place through no fault of ours, then the new place went up in price every year and then they added a minimum stay in to the mix, which when one room had mould so bad you couldn't really use it didn't quite seem right and the response wasn't much better.... But there is definitely more to it. On both sides.

Great pics though! Thanks for posting them up.

It did go up in price each year? times are tough for everyone, but i think that is really unfair. And the mouldy room.......I dont think i need to voice my opinion on that one!

will you guys be heading to the kustom nats again?

thanks mate :) i'll post up a selection of others tonight

  30. Yep, already booked in at San Remo. We're going down new years eve and staying till the following Monday.

As for Bright it was a great run, in the early years we were lucky to see the local cop at all. Great atmosphere in beautiful surrounds and always a relaxing run, nothing like it ended up sadly. I even wrote a letter to the woman in charge of tourism to make here aware of what was happening at the prompting of the NSSR. It didn't do much, also I know of a few others who lost their long standing accommodation bookings for reasons completely unknown to them. Oh well... Guess that backfired a little.
