I am still digging it with the stock hood, but how can I say much of anything after 20 odd pages of amazing build? Personally I like the flathead better than more modern, but again it is your ride and doing a great job of building anyway. Any targeted date to have it out on the road?

Hey fordman1 this pile of parts was grabbed from your neck of the woods - Beaverton,
after rotting away in some Kentucky forest anyway.
I'm gonna try to get it running and maybe have it in the GNRS suede palace,
    we'll see.

Hey skatemann here are some outside shots finally!

The first time in a year and a half the car was back outside.
I think there's one too many springs in the front.

The rear fender got snagged on the ramps coming out of the shop!

There's some bumpy sheetmetal work that will need some hammering and grinding yet.

Another project I was tinkering on also had it's first venture outside in 3 years.

    Not too HAMB friendly.
    A '55 chevy with '85 corvette suspension/running gear.
It's been a fun project to work on.

Those rims were a craigslist score,
so yeah hopefully he'll get bigger tires at least.

Travis, you are my hero! Awesome work on both! Been following since the begining on here and your blog, great inspiration brother!

  4. I know I poo-poo'd the idea of chopping a 40 coupe way back in the beginning of this build, but you have done an awesome job!

  5. Zibo- GREAT to see all of the parts coming together!!!

Are those stock bumper guards on the '55 pickup?

awesome, through the hood back on for some truly awesome shots of it sitting back together!

i've been following this build on your blog and couldn't believe how different it looks with the fenders/hood/ running boards on. it just keeps getting better!

it definintly keeps me motivated that you can make just about anything happen if you have at least one angle grinder, and to keep my 46 from becoming a shelf :)

    realy rad man, really rad.

    Thanks guys!
I'm in the process of setting it up at the house garage.
Was really spoiled having a shop!
Will be nice to do the small stuff at home though.
I chickened out and used twobittow instead of the pull bar,
and man it looked so cool on the back of the trailer.
Different being able to see it from a distance instead of cooped up in the corner.
Now I'll be focusing on the mechanicals instead of the cosmetics,
unfortunately the stuff that costs money!

Thanks again for all the interest!

Created a huge monster over the weekend.
Scrubbed the surface rust with wetsandpaper and diesel
    [IMG]
$11 bbq paint won out over the couple hundred in chrome.
Instead of chasing rust I'll just have to do touch up.
I've tried that pro-baked ceramic coat and it lasted about a year,
so right now this will do.
I threw some fire up in the big hole to simulate an oven,
not sure if that helped or not.
Wish I had done this a long time ago,
    they looked fresh.
    mounted
    [IMG]
Now the big issue was the pink elephant in the corner.
Since I scrounged this hood up,
it's been either the hood or the headers.
So one or the other was getting banged up by dancin around the yard.
I've got a clean 351 that could go in that hole,
but really this will always be a cadillac flathead coupe.
Guess I'll have to make hole fillers later on.
Before you lash out at me for cutting up a cherry hood,
this did have some rust issues.
So now I've got my work cut out for me.
I want to do a double pie cut to get the nose down a bit,
then in addiction I'll need to stretch it that inch that I mismeasured
since I never realized I'd have to fit a hood on there.
Best part is I've got a refined idea of how I want it to be,
    instead of imagining it!

    Travis, that's wicked!

Hmmm, if you put a pushbar on the front, that would be a real cool push car!:D

Good to see it with the hood on.... I have only seen it with it off. I miss seeing the headers too though!

Seeing the headers sticking out the hood sides makes me giddy.

    Yo Texas,
Now that I know you're a little hard of hearing,
this would be the perfect car for you!
(Please don't take that as disrespect!)

I'm a little sidetracked lately on other things,
but there's an update coming up!

No disrespect at all. :) I make jokes about myself all the time.. I'm not uber-sensitive about it one bit.

I always tell the others "If I can't hear it, it's not loud enough." ;)

Travis, Love the header for the Flat-Head Caddy ! Also looking forward to you stuffing a 351W under the hood. Will it be the first mill to power your Coupe ? If it is you will have a neat hot rod on your hands.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year !

'and to keep my 46 from becoming a shelf :)'

Yeh, i now that feeling, been 8 months easy since i touched my 40:(

This just keeps getting better Zibo, glad you're keeping the caddy engine, its a mad car and the caddy makes it. So why the hood? You mentioned that you 'have to have it'?
I need to get my butt in gear and get back on mine.
