Tom Lynch back in New Jersey did it to a 70's Volare after visiting Steve and I out here in California. They did finally kick him outta the vintage classes at the track, but only after he beat alot of them with his altered A-100 axled combo.....
If you dig Magnante's Fairmont (which I really do) but you're a Chevy guy, this might tickle your fancy. Not AWB but it captures the vibe, IMO, and you could certainly move the wheelbase around if that's your preference.
It's going to take fresh new thinkers to keep rodding alive in the new century, and this certainly catches my attention. Besides, this has to be cheaper than a strut/4 link car.
I've got a quick and dirty photoshop of an altered wheelbase 78 Lemans in this album, if anyone wants to take a look. don't want to offend anyone posted somthing not HAMB friendly. http://s860.photobucket.com/albums/ab169/rocketbob54/my%20cars/
That's really interesting... Do you have a name or any pictures I could search for? I had thought about doing it to my Duster, but (in my head, anyway) deemed it too 'new'. Now you've got me thinking again... Dammit! LOL JK
There is a 1/18 diecast model of Dave Strickler's 1965 coming out that has a large dodge emblem on the roof. It says the car only had this when it was running with the carbs before it was injected. Anyone have any pictures of the real car with the emblem on the roof?
watched and maybe helped a little, when a friend turned a hemi light weight factory race car into an awb injected matchracer in 65---they were great fun to watch--all the great cars out of texas, kansas ,okla ,mo --lots of Detar motors---it was the center of the matchbash funnycar world those first couple of years--glad i was there then and not nit picking about it now-----Thanks Terry
That picture was taken in front of R&B Automotive in Kenosha.....John Buttera was one of the partners there......he moved out to California a couple years later and the rest is history...
A Updated Pic. (more work coming in weeks ahead.) (wish I remembered how to post these pics. bigger?)
Well, your using the right format.. (it helps us dial-up users out..) They just need to be BIGGER! Besides..... I like the click an' save feature...
Terry, who's car did you help out on? did very little --mostly hang around " POISON IVEY " not a nicer couple than him and his wife
I have looked and can't find a single picture of the AWB ranchero called FOMOGO. Do any of you have any pics? I have a video of it running against Malcom Durham's Chevelle but no still shot.
at that same time the Ivey's other car was a max wedge a year or two older, when she( his wife lou ? ) made the late night McDonalds run us local street racers were very docile ( hid out )--that first picture really hit home --thank you---the wedge put Terry on the map with some big super stock wins but after he got the hemi it became a grocery getter
