Hey Steve, just a heads up, I plan to start a Ranchero style version of your '51 Merc pretty soon, incorporating the back window of the '49, uh, jewel you just got.
Looking at a slight chop, lengthened door, lowered etc, maybe even a mild section to make it look longer. If you have any ideas just let me know. It may take awhile, still doing the seven days a week at work thing, but I think it'll be fun. Eli

Hey, Koolkemp, I just saw your Merc pics and noticed a Chev 2 door next to that nice, new, Merc. How can I contact the owner? I need the belt line stainless for my coupe.

Hey Steve here's a VERY preliminary teaser of a Ranchero style version less the bed section; hopefully I can fill it out in the next few days.
Btw, I planted some grass, hope it helps.:D"

    For my 3,000th post...something worthwhile.

Steve!...you can't build that Merc yet! After you finish the Ford, you gotta build the project you promised me! (shown below) I've been treating it with Ospho and I did straighten out some of the dents, but I really need your help...buddy. :D

  13. Mercero would be cool but I am diggin the straight 3window action. I thought when bfg's kopperhead was built that a merc version would kill.

How 'bout a Before and After?

After making it a chopped three window I narrowed the C pillar (now the B pillar) and added the '49 Merc backlight. Looks much better than the '51 I'm thinking.
Oh crap, just realized that I didn't chrome the front bumper. Not to worry, I'll get it on the chopped sedan delivery version.

Eli ,I wish I had your talent with a computer ! Thanks for the grass, I have spent the last 2 months bringing home free gravel and rocks from an old quarry filling all that wet clayish muck lol! All shoveled onto and off my pickup by hand....must be close to twenty trips I think thats why my tennis elbow has flared up after 10 yrs of not much pain !

Grass is not for parking cars on :D

    Thanks for the kind words!

You havent told me if you want it chopped yet :p

That looks wicked!! Would you mind sliding the back window down a bit towards the the bed , cant wait to see the delivery!

I saved the pics of Riks model years ago lol! I think its the best proportioned rendering I have seen...and that includes the full size ones that have been built!

  17. I have to say I like the '51 back window more. Makes it look more like an actual Ranchero type build like it has an actual "cab" to it. The '49 looks way too much like some hillbilly just cut up a car to make a pick up out of it.

Thanks to the airborne temporary garage I no longer have a 51 backlight :(...I do have the orig rear window opening from the 47 I think it might look pretty good as well...?

  19. That sucks. It's just my opinion but I just like the more upright look of the back in the first photoshop with the '51. Like I said gives it more of a truck cab look so the '47 might work to achieve that look.

Been sitting at home for a week doing nothing...docs orders ,got a cortisone shot in my right elbow (tendonitis) had to wear a sling too....was a long boring week! If it seems to settle down I will be back on the Ford next weekend, back to work tomorrow and gonna try and take it easy this week.

Trust that you'll be on top of it all soon. Our bodies need a break from time to time.

    Take care.

I like the big window version with the deck lid as opposed to the '49 window open bed. I've seen a couple of Merc's chopped as pickups using a truck cab rear window that look OK, but the three window version looks cool, and hasn't been done.

Feel for ya with the tendonitis thing, I've been suffering from biceps tendonitis for a month now, it sucks.
