January 3, 1960, episode of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" on TV. Actually, McQueen's second appearance on the anthology suspense show that season. Though he was near the end of "Wanted, Dead or Alive" on TV, the aggressive Steve wanted to move toward doing more movies. Co-starring with McQueen & Lorre was Steve's first wife, Neile.

The script was based on a short story by Roald Dahl and revolved around a round of "chop poker" in which Lorre offers his Caddy convertible, if Steve can light his lighter 10 times in a row. If he can't, Peter gets to chop off one of McQueen's fingers! Ouch!:(

Thanks to an arrangement with The Henry Ford Museum, The Old Motor will will be bringing you photos from the collection showing Ford Motor Company and other early automobiles in the factory, on the road and in the repair shop.

The 1934 Ford V-8 photo (above) gives you an idea of the quality, but we also have T's & V-8's in a post on The Old Motor and all of these and the earlier Henry Ford Photos are linked together to make it easy to find them.

Another Photoshop fake? I have seen this long before a June 2012 auction release. What is that curling around the right side of her neck. Surely not a fallen strand of hair from that perm. A broken necklace? The neck of someone else? There is a flash shadow around her arms (indicating the subject is against a backdrop) but none around her head/hair. This looks early '60s Eden to me as her movie career was taking off. I am also suspicious that Eden would not have known this was in her estate collection.

Known as the Motorcycle Queen of Miami, Bessie Stringfield started riding when she was 16. She was the first African-American woman to travel cross-country solo, and she did it at age 19 in 1929, riding a 1928 Indian Scout. Bessie traveled through all of the lower 48 states during the ’30s and ’40s at a time when the country was rife with prejudice and hatred. She later rode in Europe, Brazil, and Haiti and during World War II she served as one of the few motorcycle despatch riders for the United States military.

The Union Freight Railroad ran right down the middle of Atlantic Avenue and shuttled goods between North and South Stations until 1970. This photos shows one of their 4, GE 44 ton locos in October 1948.

Yes, it does look like Natalie Wood, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't in Paris Blues.
