I just want to say be safe and be careful out there in the winter weather!!! We all know that rain and snow make the average commuter confused and distracted...

Yesterday on my way home from the parts store a truck pulled out from a side street and stopped right in the middle of the road sideways. Luckily the speed limit was only 40, and I was cruising at 30 or so since I saw him thinking about going for it from a distance. I didn't expect him to just stop right there in my lane though! There was probably a good 50-75 yards between us, but on that wet, saturated pavement and with my m***ive Buick drum brakes, I was going nowhere but straight. I feel VERY lucky that nobody was hurt. I could've swerved into oncoming traffic or had the truck been a foot more out into the road I would've hit in his driver door... So be safe and careful out there!! Pay attention to other drivers and don't be afraid to drive slow!! Cars can be repaired or replaced; a life can't!!

:D i didn't even think about it! Ironic indeed... That's some fine comedy right there!

Bit seriously, you can't be too careful behind the wheel when its wet out. Like mama always told me, its everybody else on the road you gotta watch out for!

Seriously though, I'm glad you weren't hurt. Do you have seatbelts and were you using them?

Bam! That right there hurts. Good luck with the repairs and hopefully the heads up from you keeps someone else out of trouble.

Scary stuff indeed. I myself had a serious near miss last week. Multiple people made a run to catch the yellow turn signal coming towards me (turning in front of me). All three ran the light as it turned RED, and due to trucks in the turn lane on my side I didn't see the first car crossing until I was in the intersection at 55mph (much less the other ones).

I stabbed the brakes hard and steered right at the door of the first car (Richard Petty said, "When there is a car sideways in front of you, steer right for the door and they will be gone by the time you get there!") I cranked back hard left and just sort of "S" turn drifted at speed right between the first and second cars (with about 15 feet between them).

The fact that I was in my Shelby daily driver with good tires and anti-lock brakes saved my ride, and might have saved my life. If I had been in the '55 Chev or my vintage Bronco, someone definitely would have gotten hurt.

    Scary out there folks.

    Ouch that ****s.
    At least no injuries.

We were driving in the RPU the other day,
real slow on a kinda busy one lane street going towards a stop sign a block away.
Some family wagon comes out of the alley on the left,
we are looking at each other,
and she almost continued on to get across to the other side.
It was like slow motion WTF are you thinking.
    And it wasn't even raining!

It's like you can put miles on the open road, freeways,
but the ****terbrained drivers are the ones to watch out for.

We have a LARGE influx of previously alien folks in our area...they drive low buck jap **** and drive like kamakazis.
My son and I were in his '27 'Nose Job' and had to drive out of a situation where the dumb **** didn't comprende STOP. Good thing for hopped up 327.
    Damned near got us...

It was 2 whole blocks before we encountered another dumb **** that changed lanes right in front...****! Missed the right front Kelsey by 2"!

Scary stuff stuff to see. I hope that a front clip will fix the Buick and it gave as good as it got.

I live in an area loaded with idiots behind the wheel and where defensive driving and not ***uming that the other driver is going to do the correct thing is a matter of survival. I've lost track of the number of cars that have cut across in front of me while I was running at the speed limit with my lights on.

Yup. 'tis the season. Today I was crusin' around. Headed to an intersection, changed lanes and had the light to go left. A lady in her Benz decided she wanted to go left too. She was on my right side! As she came over, I noticed her left fender and punched it. I could hear her brakes screech to a stop. After I made the turn I stopped and turned around to see her yapping on a damn phone. She probably didn't even lose track of the conversation.

    I hate holiday drivers.

I was going about 20mph following some lady in the right hand lane the other night when she slows to about 10. So I switch to the left and then she decides to make a u-turn! She had to have seen my headlights, especially since we were just at a stop light!

    There's idiots everywhere!!

Just wanted to throw in there that i hit his front driver side bumper/wheel (he was perpendicular to me) and he was able to drive away!!! Lucky for me he admitted fault, had full coverage, and his insurance accepted liability! What are the odds of that???? The car gets inspected/appraised next week. AND his insurance made an agreement with me that if its a total loss they'll just deduct x amount from whatever I.get so I can keep the car no problem. If I find a front wrap I'll rebuild her, if not I'll transplant the drivetrain into my '65 Electra...

That was quick. I was t-boned by some clown that ran a red light two months ago and it took their insurance a month to accept responsibility. Glad to see no one was hurt and you arent going to get hosed in the deal.
