    The holes were supposed to be remeniscent of exhaust ports on airplanes. Yes, generally only the special had 3 holes and everything else had 4. In 54 the only model with 4 was the Roadmaster.

    I am forgetting too much anymore, and this computer keeps my brain refreshed by looking and reading from other folks. If kids don't like it, go to a kid site.
    Thanks for your stock car history. I have had recollection of the Harpeth Motors car in Franklin Tn. that Waltrip drove in the 60's that I had forgotten all about. I saw it just after construction, then again the smashed hull in the landfill. I used to hang out at Ralph Beards Gulf next door when his brother Lynn Beard owned the dealership.
    I learn something new every day I log on and READ as well as look.

  28. It varied from year to year, but in most cases, the Special always made do with 3 portholes. I believe the Super also had 3 in 1954.

    I beleive MPC made a kit of this car. I seem to recall struggling with its construction.
