GREAT '49 photo of grandad and grandson, Charles "Bart" Briscoe and his grandson,
Jerry Pullins, in South Gate, California, with Ford in background! This is FlickR mem-
ber OzFan22's great-grandfather, as a matter of fact. The home in the background still
stands, SO we have a thread THEN&NOW:) comparison! 10533 San Gabriel Ave., which
OzFan says his grandparents bought for $3,000 in the early '40s!;)

Early Marilyn Monroe in Whittier -- Marilyn Monroe at the California Country Club in Whittier. Photograph caption reads, "Actress was official scorekeeper for the golf tournament; Britton blew the game." Misdated; actual year 1947. 1948-Muscle Beach, Santa Monica -- The original Muscle Beach was located south of the Santa
Monica pier, at a long, wooden platform constructed by the Works Progress Administration. There, the body was celebrated in its sunbaked glory as young men (and more than a few women) showed off their physical prowess by performing acrobatic and gymnastic routines. The original Muscle Beach disappeared in the late 1950s; the modern-day version is now located in Venice Beach. (Herald-Examiner Collection, thanks to FlickR member OzFan22)

Although our numbers are dwindling we still have reunions in Myrtle Beach every year.

The 49 body did not come out until later and used the 48 body for a couple months in 49.

The above is a most interesting design, imagine seeing the bottom section turn, independent of the bus.

I didn't realize that. Thanks. I see now that the '49 style change models were billed as "second series" and came out in the spring. I recall something like that occurring with the '70 Camaros.
