  1. My neighbor has one of these cars, interesting in an engineering kind of way. Hydraulics that raise and lower individual wheels (no jack needed for flats) fiberglass body panels, headlight that turns with the steering...weird

Digging out on Dec. 26, 1947. In the two-day period of Dec. 26 and 27th, 1947, New York City had 26.4 inches of snow, a record that stood until four years ago.

It looks like Edwin Hubble at the Mt. Wilson Observatory, the chair looks familiar, it's still there on display.

    From previous post:

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Great discussion there, guys on the TWO-series '49 Town&Country woodies! Where else but the HAMB (maybe Hemmings) would you see this kicked around??? These were AWESOME cars, at some $3,750, only the Chrysler LIMO was more costly for '49! Wow, how much is that in 2012 dollars? Only a thousand were built. At that price, no wonder!

Apparently the second series 1949 Chrysler Town & Country Convertible & DeSoto 8 P. Sedan, thanks to lifelong car fan and historian Alden Jewell.

The DS also caught Alex Tremulis' attention. He took the pic below at the DS' Paris debut in 1955 (and three dozen more color pics from the show can be found at: http://www.gyronautx1.com/live-updates.html):
