You came to the right place. I did the research on this one about three years ago. Pappys Auto was located at 19750 Livernois in Detroit. They were written about in Life Magazine in 1954. This photo was taken in 1952. They had Tucker #1047 on loan for several months. Louis Grand & Yale Simmons were the owners back then. They bought a lot of their cars from Hi Dawson Ford which was just down the street at 17600 Livernois.

  13. Who is "Rocket Muff"? A bit of unintentional editing of the lettering on the fender.;)

I'll take a look. I have about 10,000 Tucker photos. Gyronaut may be able to come up with one quicker. He is the expert on all things Tremulis.

Doug Cook changing the axle gears in his 265-powered '37 Chevy gasser, the one that made him famous before the Stone-Woods-Cook race cars. This was in October, 1957.

Here's a few of the more notable Tremulis designs that spanned a little over a decade. His 1936 rear-engined Bubble Top that he said he drew upon for inspiration for the Tucker, his 1940 Chrysler Thunderbolt he did while at Briggs, the DeSoto, and the Tucker. Going back further, as a child of 6 or 7, Tremulis studied the designs of Paul Jaray for hours on end and would draw them for his father, also a car nut. They each owe a tip of the hat to Jaray(some pics flipped for orientation, various sources for the photos: BoldRide for the Thunderbolt, RM Auctions for the Tucker)...
