Would that have been Misawa Air Base? I was stationed there twice, early and late 70's.

  3. WHERE did you get that?! I've looked high and low for Rose Fleet pics!
I believe those are Canadian ships with perhaps a DD in the forground. I went every year when I lived in Portland. Many of the ships in the 50's-60's were still the WW2 navy!

Steel beer cans ... you're officially an old geezer if you remember drinking your adult beverages from them.

  10. I had to explain to my son, born in '70, and my grandkids what these were for.
Made me feel real old!

  11. Yup, that's me with the soda, my mom holding my sister, and our neighbor. My dad still sees the old Volvo from time to time in the Portland area. He now drives the "new" '72 Volvo 145E wagon.

I went there in 65 on the dd 950 RS Edwards, I agree only one of the ships shown is us. The Edwards was built after WW2, but early 50's and had WW2 electronic gear for the most part. John FTG2

    ONE day??? ONE?

    1939, as I recall.

If they're like my kids, HISTORY will just fly over their heads while they see what Justin Beiber has been doing lately.

I read he was selling off the whole collection, this year. :(

Not only did Chuck slam it, he was the FIRST to break a back board!;) (Oh, and he played first base for the Cubs before deciding he could make more dough in the entertainment industry.:p)

Looky here! An StG-44 in the hands of an SS trooper! They were the first to get the new
weapon. But, thanks to Hitler's PERSONAL ineptness and interfering, the development
of the very first true "assault" rifle was delayed for over a year! That's right, Hitler con-
    stantly
second-guessed and armchair-generaled one of the best armies ever, right to
    defeat.:p From failing
to commit the Panzers at Petersburg (Stalingrad) to this. I'm
    sure
glad most German foot soldiers didn't have the type of weapons Hitler had pro-
    mised with his
Blitzkreig concept!:rolleyes: As it was, they were tough enough! Heck, at
Hitler's orders, they fought in five theaters at
    once.
