Yaaaay!! You took the high road and didn't immediately come on and start bashing or naming the guy, you simply asked if you took too long to ship it. That was a good way to approach it. Glad you are getting your money and he is getting his part.

I think 3 days handling and shipping time is acceptable most anywhere.

A FIRM time line will help. If you planned on selling an item have the box (likely) ready along with tape, bubble wrap, packing ect. And have the seller understand fully your time frame. I sold a steering wheel last night (box's on hand) and shipped it at lunch time today.

My new strategy is to shoot lots of pictures, and box the item right away. If you plan to sell on here, 98% of the time you are going to have to ship it. Why not have it ready.

When I buy on here, I figure a week to a week and half. The next day is crazy talk.

It all boils down to communication. Ask the right questions and lay out the transaction before anything happens. It seems to work well for me. If they don't answer questions or provide info before the money is sent, they probably won't after.

Glad you said that Fred, if I have anything in the cl***ifieds please don't buy from me -- I live 10 miles round trip to the USPS, it's winter, I'm in New England, if there's snow on the ground I may be delayed -- I sell a lot of **** on ebay and even there I say 3 days shipping time.
I don't need any "defense" just a patient buyer.

I don't suppose they reimbursed you for your time to clear up their ca-ca?

I am glad to hear that you got your money!

I no longer deal with Pay Pal - I was burned by the buyer and pay pal. I did not send the tracking # to the buyer. I checked and saw that the package was signed for. I stated this to the buyer. He told Pay Pal I didn't send it, I went deer hunting in the mid west. I was off the grid only to come back to a email stating that I owed the buyer his money back because the item was not sent.
Long story short I am now out of $350 and my part. I was going to refuse to pay it because I had proof of signature. Since I did not respond within the 10 day period. After those 10 days past they did not want to hear from me.
Screw Pay Pal & ebay - I am glad to say this s***bag was not a HAMBER.

I try to avoid paypal, either cash in person or US postal money order thru the mail, US postal money order covers both parties involved. If selling definitely get delivery confirmation/signature. Seller gets the postal money order and can cash it right at the post office, cash in hand, mail out the merchandise. Buyer, if you don't get your merchandise when paying with a US postal money order it's considered mail fraud and the Postal Service will go after the seller. Postal Service takes this very seriously.
    And what Gary mentioned:
    Here's the real deal. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...d.php?t=630481

Glad things worked out for ya.:)

The postal service lost dropped uprights and steering arms I sold on here and they didn't do a lot to rectify the problem .I double boxed and bubble wrapped them well. I sent a letter to GA (where all broken boxes and items out of boxes) and they do not respond if they don't find anything. How can dropped uprights and steering arms jus disappear? Total scam and I am out the money.

Oh and the empty box made it to the final destination.

  13. 98% of the things I post here get few to no replies and I also do swap meets in the summer, so why box something that probably won't sell or may sell locally? Heck, I even offered to haul a complete vehicle for a couple different guys and neither one had the courtesy to get back to me and say 'no thanks' on what I asked to deliver it.

My favorite is those who expect a part to ship the next day and send a email 3 days later *****ing their part hasnt arrived even though they paid parcel post(7-10 days) shipping fees.

  15. Well if you ever see me on the list make sure I know about it. I would hate to think that someone bought something from me and I forgot to ship it.

Well I am glad that is over. Good thing for you, other than a little stress you still got paid.

  16. I have Bought & sold from hamb members and it has been very good. I only accept a money order. And I get the parts boxed up and ready to ship as soon as payment arrives. I reciently sold a buyer some items. they where shipped the same day as the money order arrived. Two identical flat rate boxes both shipped at the same time & place. The buyer recieved one on saturday. and the other still didnt come on monday. then later monday he got it. It seems his postman was at fault. Ive got to the point where ill only ship items that will fit into a flat rate Us post box. OldWolf

"I think I told him" No The facts are in this case that you NEVER said anything period. You are a piss poor comunicator and you got lazy on shipping the item after immediate payment. As of today I still dont have the item. I tried to cancel the sale after a week of not hearing from you after many e-mails. When I contacted Paypal for refund you started crying about it, and your still crying about it on the HAMB. I have released funds through Paypal and still dont have the item. Dude really?????

Delivery can mean several things... maybe it was left on the buyer's porch, and someone stole it.
    That's not the seller's fault.

There is NO such thing as immediate payment, it taks 2 to 3 business days to clear into your account, then ship. ?????'s here.

While I prefer a money order I have only had a problem with one check in the 9 years I have been on here. The HAMB certainly isn't the same place it was back then, we were a rough bunch lots of drama but with few exceptions everyone was about you getting what you needed to get her done.

Ya know what is cool? When you can have a thread like this with no drama, good for everyone involved. ;)

It seems to me that the seller has provided proof of delivery at 12:05 yesterday(Monday, Dec 10th)........now, as of today 15 minutes ago you are still saying the item wasn't delivered????

Somebody is lying.....looks like you are, Mr. Buyer........what say you? Do you have the package or don't you? USPS says you do......

Something seems weird here the buyer claims he doesn't have his package but has released the funds? Why would paypal make him release the funds unless they had proof of delivery? Something doesn't add up.

  26. Let me tell everyone a little story here, I like to tell stories.

It has been several years ago that one of a the prominent go to vendors that many HAMBers used for specialty parts sent a large and expensive package here to the metroplex ( not on purpose). The buyer never received the package and after a rant or two got in contact with the seller who it was determined missed one number in the address. Well then the vendor asked if someone on here could go to that address and see if the people living there still had the package. So one of the fellas stepped up and sure enough found the package right there in the vacant lot where it had been delivered.

Yes it is not a typo the package was delivered to a vacant lot. Those are the types of people that both vendor and customer have to depend on to get something.

hell last week I got someone's mail from one block over, we held it up to the light and determined that it was not junk mail and I delivered it myself. The people were stoked it was an insurance settlement that they were depending on to keep living.

**** happens and it happens all the time.

I buy and sell quite a bit on eBay. Yeah, I know all the evil bay BS but have bought things on there I couldn't find elsewhere. One thing I've learned is NEVER use UPS. Their prices are too high and delivery times too long. USPS Priority Mail is the best for the money.

Like I said, Im in hopes that it arrives today. I have better things to do that set up a hoax and try to scam somebody out of $150.00. And I sure as hell would not set up a tread here on the HAMB crying about getting my money from Paypal. I have been in business 25 years and when you sell somebody something you offer a delivery date. You don't blow them off and ignore e-mails. For the record I offered to pay with a US postal money order but the seller wanted Paypal under "Money gift"????? I would pay $150.00 to not have to deal with this horsesh#t.
