Dave.I would tend to agree.. you have so much cool work happening..A reserved classic tail light would really work well.
But. its your car and vision.
    Joe's work is stellar.

One more in the less-is-more camp. Sometimes a detail that is neat on its own can end up as clutter when installed.

Dave, I've got a bunch of Model A tail lights. Might be too radical thou...

    Another mock-up picture I love.

Check how grill shell is the perfect picture frame for the nailhead. I joked with Jo that we should throw the radiator in the trunk, fab up a clear lexan grill insert, and finish her off. Then I took a deep breath and we got back to the original plan. ;)

^^ Cool shapes. But... has anyone ever considered pinching the bottom of the grille shell / frame so the overall grille shape matches the shape of the cowl / doors at the bottom also? Giving it a mild Edsel shape? Gary

    Dave,

I love this car! Quick change looks good in there.

What steering wheel is that? Diameter?

    Bruce

  10. Kevin, set the Mason jar down and back away. Just back away... ;)

That wheel isn't mine. it's just one Jo used for mock-up. I think it's a 15" Schroeder that he has drilled.

The wheel I plan to use is a flat 4 spoke wheel out of an old sprint car ( also 15" ). I picked it up a week ago and it has got tons of soul.

You can't help but hold it in your hands and picture some gritty driver sawing on the wheel as he is pedaling the car through the corner - slingin' dirt the whole way. Ok, maybe it's just me...:D

I haven't decided if we will "trick" the wheel up a little bit or leave it as-is. The above pic also shows my new one-of-thirty HAMB shift knob that will get used in the car.

That wheel would be cool if your engine turned the finish, especially if you have an engine turned dash panel. This is a Cool Build.

Thanks guys. If you like engine turned aluminum, you'll want to stay tuned.

The plan is to have some engine turning showing up in some places you may not expect.

I'm so excited to see my vision being turned into reality. Jo has a great eye (and talent in spades), so together I feel like we are really going to do something special with this car.

Of coarse I am kinda biased and a hack, so you guys may end up saying "what the hell was he thinking?"

Keep going till the money runs out, then go find more! Just remember it takes time, money, and patience , I'll keep watching, thanks from north of the border

    OK - maybe not...

I'm so broke from building this car that I've had to resort to stealing street signs for the raw materials.

Jo wanted me to be sure to mention that no city workers were injured in the making of this gauge panel.

    Another of the dash.

I'll have more updates later today.

Ridler, ya, OK Jeff. You forgot the Smiley Face or the little sarcastic eyeroll dude after that post. You can't win the Ridler from downstairs. Yup, I'm sure the coupe would fit right in upstairs, but this ones goin' in the Basement.

Gotta hang with my peeps.

Hey Jeff, shouldn't we be seeing a build thread on your cabriolet soon. I'm looking forward to that one.

    Few more pics from Jo.

Made up these cool feet for my gas tank.

Dave - I think your taillights are off a chrysler airflow - mid 30's. Fortunate enough to live close to Joe's shop and consider him a good friend. One hell of a car builder.
I've seen your car going together since day one. You're one lucky guy. Can't wait to see yur car in Detroit.

Perhaps those taillights just need a bit of a trim...

Dave it was good to see lunch. Its been a while. You fellas that are following this build are in for some more surprises. Dave gave FAB32 and I a sneak peak at pictures of some additional unique design features. Now I'm more excited than ever to see it when its finished.

  29. I have found out the lights are lights are industrial - non-automotive. Make sure to stop by and say Hello in Detroit.

    That's too funny.

Rich - It was great to see you again, it has been too long. Glad I got to unexpectedly crash your lunch. I hope I didn't talk your ear off too much.. Tell Scott and Dave I'm sorry I missed them. I'll try to make it over some time when the whole crew will be there.
