"During testing of the Model A Duesenberg in 1921, a run of eighteen thousand miles was made, but in 1923 the Brothers decided two see how long it would take to cover 3000 miles, running on the 2.5 mile track at Indianapolis. The car above was prepared for the run and equipped to be refueled and serviced at speed. The bumper you see down the side of the car was at the same height as the Model A refueling car to keep from causing dam-age while refueling and service at high speed. The car ran non-stop and other than a coup-le of stops for tire changes and the engine was never shut off.

The team covered 3155 miles during the run in 50 hours and 21 minutes which is an average speed of 62.7 mph, which for the time was incredible for a passenger car (1923 winner Tommy Milton averaged 90.54 mph).
One month after the run, Fred Duesenberg paced the start of the 1923 Indianapolis 500 with this very same car."

I'd have to say, Sophia Loren always seemed to ooze class. Someone (In my dreams) I would consider to cosy up to. Jayne Mansfield not so much, she seemed a bit crass.

Here is a pic of my close friend Chris Reid, I met him back in 63 at the soap box derby, sadly last year the big "C" overtook him...................He is in the car on the left, and I am in the background.

Little Richard's Madame Tussauds London wax figure is different. He actually does have a giant head. I always noticed it in interviews...
