".... No longer does a car have to be all vintage parts, to have traditional appeal. Good taste, good design and good engineering with respect for the past... "

Don't sell Minneapolis short! You guys have great cars, better swap meets and both places have great people---one of my homes away from home.
Austin does get a longer hot rod season though----did I mention it was in the 70's today!;)

I'll be up for both new shows and of course for Back To The 50's

Come see proof that Marcy has cars:).. check out her amazing yet to be revealed _____________phantom dream car at the show, its the only place with in 1500 miles you'll be able to see it in person!

and Boones, you know Im already thinking past next year... I live in MN now so this is where the first show will be... home of Grain belt beer, the Hot Dish (and my hot dish Stacie)... but if all goes well a midwest and northwest show in 2014 are what id like to do:)

For everyone else thats supporting this, Thanks. We are hoping to put together the best show we possibly can and if anyone has any ideas at all they think would be cool, lets us know.

Muffler rapping contests and burnout contests are a big hit at a show here in Anoka county(north metro). There is also what they call a lowrider limbo where cars air out and see who can limbo the lowest. Don't necessarily use those ideas but find a way to get people moving their cars.

I will have flyers at Torque fest, Billetproof, back to the 50's, and a few others... I also have the file posted on my facebook.. I posted here too and it should be large enough to print it... it just prints on to a regular old 8x11 sheet of paper:)... pretty stoked everyone digs it:)

Great website and fliers! Are stockers/works in progress allowed?

totally allowed... aren't almost all rods and customs a work in progress? :)... The show isn't about finished or show cars only, its about good taste and trying to steer people in the right direction... I love full customs and shiny finished pretty rods, but mine don't seem to make it past primer. An unfinished project IS tradition... a semi ratty car that gets better every year because that's all a guy can afford to do, that's tradition... a bunch of junk slapped together for the purpose of looking like a bunch of junk slapped together, that's not tradition.. that's not even hot rodding.
For too long now I've gone to these so called traditional shows all over the country where you'll see these "rat rods" accepted, even celebrated... while some super clean '61 Impala with 17" wheels (or similar) sits in the parking lot because it isn't "traditional"... A well designed car is a well designed car, whether its on bias ply wide whites or 17" redlines.. I don't know where this concept has gone but I hope to help bring it back, that's what Krome'n Kandy is about.
Basically I tell people that have questions this. the show is combination of these elements... a traditional park show (billetproof, torquefest, round up) with out the rat rods... A goodguys/NSRA/fairgrounds event with out the muscle cars... and an ISCA indoor showcar show with out the roof.
Nothing wrong with stockers or works in progress:)....
..... consider this.. if your car is made up of crusty tractor parts, its tractor, not a car:)

I'm really stoked to be playing Friday night. Plus I should have the binder running to haul the band gear!

Cool flyer too. I'll print out a few and send out to friends!

The fuel and lodging $$ is why more regional shows are making sense/cents.

So are 20" going to be accepted? Billet wheels? Be strict about No RATS.

  28. I'm confused. You poster says "not just another rat rod show". To me that says it is a rat rod show? And you are pimping it here but clearly trying to clarify that big wheels and newer than '64 are allowed? I guess I don't understand if this is catered to traditional crowd or we are just invited?
I'm all for a good new event in mn to attend that doesn't involve 12,000 street rodders, unfortunately it falls on our local 1500 car show which I normally vend at.
Very cool flyer. Other than the rat rod thing.

yes, billet wheels are accepted... In fact, even promoted in some sense.. 20" might be pushing the bounds a bit but honestly, I would much rather look at some really nice tasteful ride rolling on 20 inch billet wheels designed to look like Radars, than some hunk of junk half Mad Max thing rolling on 20 inch tractor wheels... The bulk of cars I want to feel welcome are all those guys that seem to get left out, with really nice late 50s to mid 60s mild customs.. the ones rolling on slightly modern 16, 17 and 18 inch wheels but wheels that have vintage flavor.
And yes, its the Rat rods we want to get away from.. I have nothing against guys building what they like, but that's not what I like and not what I want to promote... so NO rats:)

CRAP.. I wrote a whole long thing and went to post it and it pooped out:(... the short answer is, YES.. the focus of the show is Traditional, but I want to replace all the rat rod junk you see at all the other "traditional" shows with stuff a little nicer... it is those cars that are "just invited" because its those cars that don't seem to fit in anywhere.
The line between true traditional and new traditional gets blurred more every year and I personally would like to see it shift away from the junk yard look and back to good taste.

I didn't read that poster as promoting rat rods but I can see how it could be misunderstood that way... Ill totally change that because Rats are not welcome... and will be turned away.

With ever style there are the cars that are extreme... great big billet wheels??? no, not what the show is about. But brand new Billet Radars?? yes, I think those fit in.. even if they are 17 inch.

The lines between true traditional and new traditional are blurred, its not like it was 15 years ago anymore.. Lots of the stuff that was once old is new again, and can be bought new again... cars weathered to look like "barn finds" ??? is that traditional?.. Gassers built from a Speedway catalog, steel bodies bought brand new... wheels that were once cast now available in billet, that looks cast... none of that is true tradition, but it is inspired by tradition and that is the trend I want to promote.. even if its a tweeked tradition at times.

    I hope that makes sense?

You probably know the kind of cars I'm involved with? The Take OUT T, the Woodward roadster... cars like that are not truly traditional but embody what tradition should be about. and cars like that don't belong parked next to something you need a tetness shot before getting close too. Both of those cars are brand new, both have Billet parts on them, both have seen the inside of a trailer... but both get driven, both are built by regular guys and both follow a line of tradition and good taste.
    Just an example:)

If that doesn't explain it I can try again:)
